Looking for a Courier Service in Washington D.C. area

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: Looking for a Courier Service in Washington D.C. area
By Mommyof4 on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 09:46 pm:

Does anyone know of a good courier service in the Washington D.C. area? I need to have our adoption dossier authenticated by the Secretary of State Offices as well as the Chinese Embassy in Washington and things move WEEKS faster if they are dropped off in person vs. being mailed to them.

Tammie, do you live near DC? If so, call a friend who works at an office down town, and ask her what service they use. If you have any friends who work in law offices, I'm sure they could recommend a service. It's been too long since I worked up there for me to give you a name. If you don't know anyone, simply call any large law office, and ask the receptionist. She'll be the one who handles courier packages anyway.

The courier service we use in Philadelphia has experience with and recommends Airnet - 800-999-1201. I explained that these would be very critical documents to be carried to the Dept. of State and an embassy for adoption papers, and the person I spoke with endorsed them. I also spoke with my niece who works in a quasi-government office in DC, but they use FEDEX, so no joy there.

I also spoke with a court reporting firm in DC that we have used in the past, who recommends Velocity, 800-336-4753. I again explained why it is so critical that they be reliable, and was assured "we use them all the time and they are great".

I think if it were me I'd call Velocity first.
