Skin rash ?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: Skin rash ?

Anyone know what this could be? DD has had it all day. She acts fine otherwise. It comes and goes in different spots on her body. DH was thinking hives, but from what I've read, hives are red welts. These are white. Almost like little bites. She's had a bath this afternoon and that didn't help. They itch her.

If you were living in my area in the spring and summer, I would say they look like fire ant bites. Exactly.
Sorry, I know that is useless information for you today. :(
Hope dd feels better. :)

Looks like a trip to the ped. is in order. They could still be hives. Even looks like a little swelling on her hand. Have you tried giving her Benadryl? Hope she's better soon and you're able to pinpoint the cause. Please keep us posted.

you should check and see if she's got eczema. it's a skin disorder that my best friend's half brothers had. it looks similar to what your daughter's got in the picture. do the areas infected with the spots itch her?

My kids get hives and sometimes they look just like this. Benedryl, benedryl, benedryl!!!

I use the liquid for them to take orally, and also keep on hand the benedryl gel to rub on it to stop the itching. It's the best thing I have ever found for both kids.

DS(4) got them ALL over his body, every inch, because of an allergy to ibuprofren and I gave him an oral dose of benedryl and also rubbed the gel all over him and it took care of them almost instantly.

Good luck! And from now on, don't be caught without the benedryl, because she could break out with no warning again...

We haven't tried Benadryl. But I guess we will now :) The spots are actually gone from her hand now. She has a couple on her cheeks now that weren't there before. They are just jumping all over the place! I will try Benadryl and see if that helps. If not, I guess we'll be going to the DR. tomorrow. Thanks!

I wanted to post last night, but I was laying in bed thinking about this.

Has she gone off prescription medicines recently. I went off a prescription medicine one time and broke out like this, I'm allergic to sulfates.

Also when I was little, mom made me a beautiful hair ribbon made out of yarn with wool in it, when I was little I was allergic to wool but outgrew that. My face broke out like that.

You're gonna laugh, but one of my kids are allergic to benadryl. The dr. told her to take the pills and/or cream for poison ivy and she broke out like this, the dr. couldn't believe it but it happened.

I hope it's clearing up:)

I was thinking an allergic reaction to something, particularly if it's *moving* from one spot to another and going away.....has she eaten or been near anything different in the last day or so??

Looks like hives to me. I had the same thing last year and we never figured out what caused it. Have you changed soaps or detergents recently?

By Mommyathome on Friday, February 13, 2004 - 10:04 am:

It's gone this morning :)
We went over everything she ate yesterday and can't come up with anything out of the ordinary. I did recently switch laundry soaps, I didn't even think of that. I think that the outfit she was wearing was washed in the new soap. I'm going to put her in another freshly washed outfit today and see if it happens again. If so, then we'll know that's what it is. That will be a bummer....I really like the new soap LOL
