Do you where slippers?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: Do you where slippers?
By Annie2 on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 10:40 pm:

I always have growing up. Whole family wore them. Still do but I would like to find a more sexier style/brand than I wear now.
I wear cute pajamas around the house or a nice nightie with robe, etc. I have started to get away from the t-shirts and boxers, most nights and dress in pretty things for leisure time and bed.
I feel prettier, more feminine and dh has noticed....:)
BUT!!!!The L.L.Bean clogs/slippers have to go. Is there a comfortable, sexy slipper out there?
What do you wear around the house?

By Kate on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 11:06 pm:

You'll laugh at me; my friends do. I wear slippers ALL DAY LONG. I have cold feet constantly and my hardwood floors and living in the north don't help. I wear decidedly UNsexy Dearfoam 'boot' slippers which keep me very cozy. Your LLBean slippers sound much 'cooler' than my Dearfoams, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. I receive THREE pair each Christmas, per my request (strong, pleading, whining request :) ) I don't think your type of slipper would be quiet enough on my floors. I wear the soft soled one and I can't even hear myself walk.

Do I know of any 'sexy' slippers? No. So why am I posting? Well, to make you feel a little bit better?? Knowing someone out there looks waaaaaay more frumpy than you might make you smile? :)

By Pamt on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 11:19 pm:

I don't have sexy slippers, but I have fun ones. I wear slippers because my feet are cold...sexy indicates exposed toes and that goes against my slipper-wearing purposes. I have some cute blue slides with a moon and cloud on each one, but they are falling apart so I need some new ones. I think Target has some cute slippers. There are some I really want from a specialty catalog that have a big Freud head on them...they are "Freudian slippers" LOL :) How's that for sexy?

By Dawnk777 on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 11:41 pm:

I love my sheepskin-like boot slippers. Sexy slippers imply cold feet to me, too and I like to wear slippers to keep my feet warm. Since my computer is in the basement, I need something practical and boring and warm! I'm not much help.

I also have sheepskin-like clog slippers for when I run outside to tie up the dog. If the pavement is dry, I wear the other ones outside, too. The clog slippers have a hard bottom, but I noticed that the other slippers aren't as slippery outside on an icy snowy driveway.

I see you live in Florida. I guess if I lived in Florida and didn't have to worry about cold feet, I wouldn't even bother with slippers at all! LOL!

By Marcia on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 11:44 pm:

I only started wearing them when we got hardwood throughout the house. The floors are much too cold this winter!! I have boot slippers, as well as some that were crocheted. I even wear them to bed some nights. (along with my polar fleece pants and sweatshirt)
Annie2, after reading our posts, I'm sure you feel much sexier. LOL!!!

By Bea on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 11:56 pm:

I have a pair of pale blue, fleece lined, leather moccasins that I love. What's great about them is, that they are machine washable. I hang them to dry, and fluff them in the dryer for a few minutes before wearing them again. They are my house shoes, and I wear them every day.

By Fionadeassis on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 12:03 am:

I am laughing so hard. Are there ANY sexy moms out there? I wear big fleecy 'sock slippers' or wool socks....my dh's old blue fleece pajama bottoms and longsleeved fleecies or sweatshirts(I am always so cold).

In the summer I am quite sexy though...litle flowered skirts and tiny tank tops....still with fleecy sock slippers though.....even in the summer I have cold feet...

My mom had black satin mules with little black fluffy feathers on them when I was a kid. I thought they were the sexiest things on earth. She also had a burgandy and gold long sexy 'lounge dress' and a long electric blue satin nighty..(it was the 70s).....she was always into looking sexy...not a frump like her daughter. I think tomorrow I will change into something sexy right before dh gets home.....

It is actually a really good idea Annie2....sometimes I wear the same shirt a few days running and I often don't even brush my hair if I don't leave the house.

I would check out some of the lingerie shops(do you guys have La Senza in the US?).......La Senza always has really sexy nighties and even some 'semi sexy' pajamas......maybe they have some kind of slipper that is sexy...

The other thing. I don't wear sexy jammies, either. I want to be warm, so I wear flannel. We turn out thermostat down at night, so comfort is the word, more than looking nice. As far as I know, DH doesn't care. We have been married for 16 years. On Everybody Loves Raymond, last night, Debra and Ray were supposed to go out together. It ended up not working out. Debra was dressed in a cute little tank top and skirt that was black and lacy. She looked nice, but I kept thinking how cold I would be if I was wearing what she was wearing! LOL!

By Texannie on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 08:30 am:

I have some black "velvet" slippers that look nice with my pretty jammies.

By Bellajoe on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 08:44 am:

I feel pretty frumpy too. I have decided that i need some cute pajamas to wear. I'm tired of looking and feeling frumpy in my frumpy pants and t-shirts.
I have fuzzy slip on Dearfoams. They keep my toes warm and i wear them all day long :). I don't really know of any sexy slippers.

By Fraggle on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 09:00 am:

I used to but they were never very sexy-now I just end up wearing holes into all my socks. If you find a nice pair let me know! I know what you guys mean about the pajamas. I have some nice silk ones (pants and long sleeves)but I hate to wear them becase I freeze all night. I love my flannel pants :).

By Marcia on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 10:14 am:

LMBO!!! Sounds like we all need to be on the show "What NOT to wear". LOL

By Andi on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 10:43 am:

I received the BEST slippers for Christmas this year from my best friend. They are called Tempur-Pedic Slippers and I love them. They are very pricey $65, I would never buy them for myself but oh my goodness, they are so comfortable.

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 10:59 am:

Here are my slippers - polar fleece booties!

It gets COLD text description here in New England and we have hardwood floors.

Is there such a thing as sexy, warm, comfortable slippers?! Hmm, I don't think so. These are certainly not my style. LOL!

How about these?
Brocade slippers

I love slippers! We have hardwood floors also and slippers are the only way to go. I have a pair that are a leopard pattern, very cute and kinda sexy! :)

By Newbabysarah on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 11:13 am:

I am a slipper junkie. My mom gave me 2 pairs this past Christmas along with 4 pairs of jammies. I guess that when I am in pj's with the slippers I feel child at heart and that makes me feel good. Right on to everyone here who wears slippers!:)

By Babysitbarb on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:01 pm:

I must be weird because I have never been able to stand to wear slippers. The only time I wore them was in the hospital with having my girls. I have hardwood floors and I do notice my socks wear out fast, I just thought the socks were getting made cheaper. Im very warm blooded so lots of times I don't even have socks on.

By Marg on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:12 pm:

Trina,

Wouldn't it be nice to wear something like that around the house! I would kill myself in those as clutsy as I am, and as slippery as my floors are.... Couldn't you see it now, sexy slippers and lingerie and thump on the floor I would be, either that or I would be sliding on the floor, lol! I slide on the floor with socks and a lot of shoes I have.

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:40 pm:

warm slippers

Here are my slippers. I couldn't find a product shot of the boot slippers, since Target doesn't have them on their website anymore. Then hubby reminds me I could just take my own picture! LOL! The clog slippers are handy for wearing outside, but it always bugs me that my heels are cold, so I don't wear them around the house that much.

By Cat on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:44 pm:

I only wear them if my feet are cold and I don't have socks on. Not very often at all. This Friday we're having another "Pajama Day" and I'll wear them then. They're thick, black socks with fuzzy black "fur" around the ankles. My sil gave them to me the Christmas before last. She gave me another pair this year, but they're too small (different style). Oh well. I'm sure there's a teen girl at church that will wear them. They all always seem to be either wearing slippers (usually pink, fuzzy ones! lol) or flip flops. Even in the dead of winter with snow on the ground. Think they're trying to make a statement??? :)

By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:44 pm:

I started wearing hard-soled slippers when my oldest son (now 42) started playing with Legos, and have worn slippers since (3 sons, lots of Legos, cats, cold floors, and so on.

By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:45 pm:

Annie, I don't think comfortable and sexy are obtainable in the same garment- slippers or otherwise.

By Annie2 on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 03:04 pm:

Thanks, ladies! No sexy, comfortable slippers found.... but I had a good laugh!

By Kate on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 03:12 pm:

Cat....kids wear slippers to church? You'll have to explain that one! :)

I never wear my slippers outside. We don't wear shoes in the house, so wearing my slippers outside would just bring the dirt in that we're trying to keep out. I don't know when wearing slippers outside became popular, but Dearfoam sure has TONS of styles with indoor/outdoor hard soles. I don't like them at all, uncomfy and noisy. My aunt gave me a pair of slippers this Christmas (alas, the wrong kind) and said, 'Now let me give you some advice, don't wear these in the slush'. I was like HUH? In the slush?? Who would think to try that?? Apparently SHE did, with bad results, LOL.

By Colette on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 03:19 pm:

I have down filled slippers that dh bought for me. Really nice when it is cold or when you are sick.

anything can be sexy....it depends on your attitude while wearing it...or taking it off.

By Cat on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 04:07 pm:

Yes, Kate. The teens (girls anyway) wear slippers in church. We're kind of informal. We figure as long as they're there, we're happy. Funny thing is, it's usually the pastor's daughter (16yo)! If that's the worst rebellion we get, we're lucky. :)
