Trying to fix one of our many vehicles!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: Trying to fix one of our many vehicles!
By Mrse on Sunday, February 8, 2004 - 09:03 pm:

Well we have been at my parents house all weekend. dh was working on my car that has been at my parents for a long time, he got it all together, then had a problem with one of the spark plugs, tryed to take it out, then busted it, at that point we had been their all day, so we went home, and today picked up the part, went back to mom and dads dh starts working on it again, this time it runs but something is clanking, so turns out a push rod is bent, so have to get that tommorrow, then he had to put some new glow plugs in his diseal truck, he asks me if I could wait a few min, for him to put them in the truck, I said yah, then, he over tightens the glow plug , wrecking the seal, so we search and search in dad's garage, I found one, put it in, but now, the diseal is leaking like a sive, around the injectors, and it was not even leaking before, so it was getting so late, that we ended up leaving the truck thier, borrowing mom's truck, and left ours all in pieces, buying more parts tommorrow, so dh will be up at mom/dad's most likely all day tommorrow, trying to get theses vehicles working. He will be going out of town again, next week, so I want to have my car out at the road to sell, before something else goes wrong. When dh gets this job, we are hoping he gets, and debts are payed down, we are getting a new vehicle and all theses broken down cars are gone.
as the old saying goes, if we did not have bad luck we would have no luck at all.

I'm sorry you are having so many troubles with your cars. Don't feel bad I just dumped over $300 that we didn't have into dh's truck and we still have an leak. We had 2. My dad came out and tried to fix the rear brakes, something back there was leaking. I had to send it to the shop because we didn't have the right tool to get something off or whatever the reason. Attempting to fix the oil leak up front my dad tightened the oil pan and busted the seal so I ended up with a driveway full of oil. Dh spent all day yesterday and today fixing that seal and changing the oil in both vehicles. After washing the truck we noticed the we still have a leak. A leak that requires the transmission to be removed and will have to wait until next weekend when my dad can come back out and help dh. So I guess what I am trying to say is I can really truly relate and I feel for you and you are not alone on this car trouble thing.

I wish I had a special car-fixing wand that would get your car purring.

So sorry about all your car problems.
Our problem is always the same. We pay off a car and then something major happens
and we have to get another one. This has happened twice!! The first time someone ran a red light and smash our car was gone. Thanks God no one was hurt! This last time we only owed 1,000 on it and something major happened, a $2,000 problem so it was not worth fixing so we had to get yes another car loan. When this one is paid off im not getting to excited. I will be waiting for something to go wrong again!! lol
It is so true that you never can get ahead!
If its not the car its the washer, dryer, fridge
it never ends!

Oh the joys of life :) Our car is basically living on borrowed time LOL It's been very good lately (knock on wood) and I'm at the point where I'm just waiting for something to go wrong. We have gotten our tax returns back and are trying to decide if we want to try to get a new car, or put some $$ into this one and hope it goes for another year. Unfortunately we owe more than it is worth. Ideally I would like for it to run nicely for another 2 years. Yeah right huh? LOL That way it will be all paid off and we can have some extra $$ saved up. Then we could actually trade in a car and get money off of it to put on another car. Usually we are upside down and end up tacking the upside down part on to our new loan. I really don't want to do that again.
Didn't mean to turn this into a vent for me. Once I get going, I can't stop!
