I am soooo ready for the Nextel Cup Bud Shootout starting in less than hour!!!

Goooo Kevin Harvick #29!!!!!!

Sorry.... just had to let some of my excitement out!!! hehe!

By Dawn88 on Saturday, February 7, 2004 - 07:23 pm:

Me too. I am a huge NASCAR fan. DJ is my fave hence the 88 behind my name.

By Luvn29 on Saturday, February 7, 2004 - 07:30 pm:

Hey! Glad to know I'm not the only one in here with the number in her name! hehe!

It's so bad with me that a couple of days ago, my hubby said "You know what next weekend is?"

Without hesitation, I said "yep, Daytona 500!"

He just looked at me and said, "I was talking about Valentine's Day."

Whoops! hehe! Good thing he is a racing fanatic too, and understands!

By Dawn88 on Saturday, February 7, 2004 - 09:04 pm:

Too funny. I am not sure I am going to like this 10 race playoff thing. What do you think?

By Luvn29 on Saturday, February 7, 2004 - 10:33 pm:

First off.... CONGRATULATIONS DAWN!!!!!!! How cool for you!!! Although, I'd be much happier if Jr. would have been back there behind Kevin! hehe!

I'm not real happy with that 10 race playoff. I always thought they should give a few more points to the winner of the race, and maybe even 5 or so for getting a budpole. But this is outrageous!

What happens if the driver you like doesn't get in the top 10 at Race 26??? How much fun are the last ten races going to be? I may be wrong, but I really think it's going to hurt the sport, especially as far as sponsors and such goes. Who wants to sponsor a team when you don't even know if you will be able to contend for the championship?

I know, I know....they say that anyone outside of the top ten never wins a championship, but they still have a chance to get into the top ten in points all the way to the end.

Who knows how I'll feel after this season, but as of now, I wish it were the same as it has been. I don't like it right now...

How bout you?

By Dawn88 on Sunday, February 8, 2004 - 08:05 am:

Thanks! It was an awesome finish. I feel the same way. I don't like it either but am willing to give it a chance.

By Mommyduncan on Sunday, February 8, 2004 - 09:29 am:

I loved the race last night. I am so glad the racing season has started!!!

Dawn I'm glad my guy was able to push DJ to the front!!! hehe Dale Jr is my favorite!!

As far as this 10 race thing. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The main thing I'm worried about is one of those top 10 guys been over anxious and there being some seriously bad wrecks. I don't understand the reason for the change. They said it was to prevent one guy from dominating the points like Matt Kenseth did last year, well, do they not remember the year before when the championship wasn't decided until the last race of the year between Tonny Stewart and Mark Martin?

I don't, I guess we will just have to wait and see how the season goes!

By Tonya on Sunday, February 8, 2004 - 10:48 am:

Yeah see for me though the racing season started at 4pm yesterday when the ARCA race came on that is the racing I have been raised in then of course NASCAR!!

GO RUSTY #2 @@@!!!!@@@!!!!!

I would have loved to see Dale Jr win again but he still finished awesome. I am so ready for next Thursday for the Twin 125'ds then the trucks on Friday then the Busch on Saturday then the Daytona 500 on Sunday can you tell we love racing here too. That is all that is on here in our house from February until November.

Plus we are at Michigan in June and August for the entire weekends in the infield and pits.

By Mommyathome on Sunday, February 8, 2004 - 08:01 pm:

Big DJ #88 fans in our house too :)

By Luvn29 on Sunday, February 8, 2004 - 09:21 pm:

OMG guys!!! Did you hear the awful news about the track worker that was killed today during a Dash race at Daytona??? 44-year-old Roy H. Weaver III

How tragic... He was on the track during a caution picking up debris when a car driven Ray Paprota, a parapalegic (using a specially built car with hand controls), was trying to catch up to the lead pack under yellow hit him and killed him.

Prayers for everyone involved and the family.

Wow. I didn't expect to find NASCAR fans on this sight! Our whole family loved Dale Sr., and now we pull for Dale Jr. My little boy is only 13 months old, but we are already trying to make a fan out of him.

By Dawn88 on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 05:31 pm:

How sad. I just got in so didn't hear about that.
