Easter Egg Hunt

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: Easter Egg Hunt

I'm looking for ideas and suggestions on how to organize an easter egg hunt for our small town. I have some ideas, but would like your input based on your experiences. For example, what different things would you do for different ages and how would you group the ages? Something like up to 2 years, then 3-6.....what age do kids quit being interested in egg hunts? How could you make it more interesting for older kids...like more involved or difficult games or egg hunts? Keep in mind, it would be a small group of kids of different ages -- maybe 30 total. I have an easter bunny costume and an area farmer that has two horses and buggy that would maybe give the bunny a ride to show up to the event with. I thought kids would like that. Maybe even a contest to win a ride on the buggy with the bunny! The area that the hunt would be held is basically a flat open field. There is a nearby treeline for hiding as well. Any suggestions on drinks and snacks to have would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

Awe that would be so cute! Well I would think for snacks some PEEPS! LOL. Candy chips stuff like that, Punch for the drink. Depending on the ages we used to do the egg toss. If they are much smaller then just the search of eggs and have a golden egg which is hard to find and have like $1 in it. I think thats how I remember we used to do it when we were younger and went to parks for Easter. I do not think we ever went to a hunt that had a ton of food. it was mostly activities, or maybe I just wasnt in the mood to eat. lol

A local grocery store does an Easter Egg Hunt every year. I know that the kids are divided into age groups. It is also held in a field area with each age group in its own roped off area. Along with the eggs they also put out juice boxes, candy, pencils etc that aren't iside eggs. A few of the eggs in each group are "winners" for certain items that have been donated. For the older kids I know it was a bike...not sure what they had for the younger kids but something comparable.
This is a big event with probably 30 kids at each different age category.
