Why might you ask, when there might be enough snow for a snow day? LOL! Because they already don't have school tomorrow! Aww, poor kids.

...Winter storm warning in effect from 6 pm this evening to 12 pm cst Friday...

Light snow will spread into southern wisconsin late this afternoon and evening. Minor snow accumulations are expected for the evening rush hour. The bulk of the heavy snowfall is forecast to fall between 8pm tonight and 3am friday morning. Snowfall amounts by friday morning
will range from 4 to 7 inches over southern wisconsin. Another inch or two of snow can be expected friday morning mainly east of a line from janesville to wisconsin dells.

A winter storm warning is issued when severe winter weather is expected to occur. Heavy snow is forecast to accumulate in the affected areas causing hazardous driving conditions. Those with travel plans in the warning area are advised to choose an alternate route...or should use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

Do we need more snow? Well, maybe Lake Michigan does with its low water levels, but my yard sure doesn't. It's getting harder to shovel because the snowbanks are getting higher and higher!

Oh, I have nowhere to go tonight, except a quick trip to the grocery store. I have to work at the clinic in the morning, but I can walk there and probably will.

We are getting it too, but ours is supposedt to turn into an ice storm....up to 1/2 inch of ice. Yuck! We wont have a snow day - thank goodness because I dont want to make them up, but we might have an early dismissal..

LOL, sounds like my luck! I remember that happening once when I was in middle school. The one day we get enough snow for a snow day and it was a 3 day weekend anyway LOL

It has just started snowing here, but we are only supposed to get a few inches. Nothing major.

I'll take a snow day. They usually just delay school here until the busses can get out. We've only had one snow day this year so far. It's snowing now and has been all day, but it's such a dry snow it just blows around. I'm sure we'll have some next month. Last year we had a "blizzard" in March. It closed the roads around us for about 3 days.

Well, it would have been snow day! Every other school in the county is closed today. WE have 6-7 inches of snow in the driveway and 2-3 feet at the end of the driveway from the snowplow. No way are our cars going anywhere until DH snowblows! Good thing I can walk to work!

Older DD has a Girl Scout event at a local computer store at 9:30am. I don't think the leader will cancel that, since driveways could be cleared by that time. The roads are already plowed. They are working on a computer badge.

NO SCHOOL today. In fact, I think the whole state of CT has closed schools due to snow and predicted freezing rain. DH drove into Hartford for work against my better judgement but said he'd be home early. It took him 3.5 hrs. to drive home the last time we had a storm like this. Thank God he made it home in one piece!

By Eve on Friday, February 6, 2004 - 08:57 am:

Yeap, Trina's right. Everything is closed! Trina, tell him to atleast come home before it turns to freezing rain. I told DH that, and he decided to work out of the office close to home today. It looks pretty, but you can tell it's going to be bad driving.

By Fraggle on Friday, February 6, 2004 - 09:03 am:

Dawn I wish we had some (and I emphasize the word SOME) of your snow up our way. Our part of Maine has gotten almost no snow all January. I can actually see grass over most of my front lawn! My girls have been asking to go out sledding since the weather has warmed up a bit, but we can't because there is no snow. It looks like the storm heading through New England is going to give us rain and ice for Friday night into Saturday so I am glad DH will be home for the weekend!

By Trina~moderator on Friday, February 6, 2004 - 09:04 am:

Eve, that's the plan. He promised me he'd leave work by 12:00 or before the freezing rain starts.

They're also forewarning people about potential power outages due to icing. I'll have to dig out candles and flash lights. Hope it doesn't get too cold! I hate winter!

It is dumping here. I am just home on my lunch break, they didnt cancel school or give us an early dismissal. should be a fun ride home at the end of the day.

By Sunny on Friday, February 6, 2004 - 01:02 pm:

We are getting rain...and a lot of it. There is a flood watch in effect until tomorrow. The ground is frozen, so it can't soak it up and there is no where for the water to go. I will be out in it again this afternoon.

On the plus side - hey, there is always a plus side, right? - the rain is cleaning the dirt and road salt off my van.

By Dawnk777 on Friday, February 6, 2004 - 04:07 pm:

The roads are already cleared up. They plow quickly (Or probably were up all night plowing). You would never know we had 6-7 inches of snow yesterday. All the snow piles are getting so high in my yard and in the parking lots.

By Bka on Friday, February 6, 2004 - 04:13 pm:

Its been snowing here in Southern Maine since 8:30 this am. Hasn't stopped or slowed down. I kind of happy ( SORRY ) everyone but we have not had nearly enough snow here yet...I personaly need it for business, and I also want to take DD out sleding this year! I would have to say we have around 5" but I think it supposed to keep snowing till late tonight. We will be spending an evening alon my mom picked DD up from daycare at noon and has her for the weekend. I think we will cuddle up on the couch with a nice warm blanket and a good movie.
