I couldn't believe this, it was the *blip*, i-bar, whatever you want to call it on the weather channel. Stating we are in for a storm warning and there are two systems depending how it goes is how much snow we will get.

Dh laughs, he thinks the grocery stores, pays the weather channels to do these blips or as it the salt companies?

He thought it was funny, I didn't, why would they give a warning like they so many days away when they really can't tell the tracks of these storms, it sends people into panics:(

Marg, do people really panic where you live? I know I am always glad for the warning so early. I will make sure I have extra bread and milk and such so that I won't need to go out for a couple of days. Maybe we are more used to things like that in my area! Where do you live again?

By Cat on Sunday, February 1, 2004 - 05:15 pm:

Dh and I were just talking about this earlier. "This weather forecast brought to you by Wal-Mart Super Center." lol They were calling for 4-6 inches here last night/this morning. We got a light dusting, but I'm sure the stores made HUGE profits yesterday.

we live on the PA/MD border, and yes, people panic, especially older people.

I like warning, but if you would have read the warning, it was actually laughable! They didn't even show the warning today, which makes you wonder!

I agree with Cat, you have to wonder who sponsors these things:(

Sometimes they give you those big warning DAYS ahead of time and then the storm takes a different turn and you get the dusting or none at all. I'm usually so disappointed. The same thing happens with severe storm alerts in the summer too. Sometimes I hate it when they overhype a given storm system.

Marg,

I think panic in this area is probably a nice way to put it. People just go nuts. They buy everything off of the shelves. There is no milk, eggs, or bread to be found. Toilet paper......well, we don't even want to go there.

It's comical as long as you don't need to find any of these things.

Oh Amanda, you make me laugh so hard!

Did you see the warning?

I haven't heard a thing since!

By Marcia on Monday, February 2, 2004 - 10:06 am:

Man, around here people don't think anything more than the excitement of a possible snow day. I would never think to shop because of a snowstorm.

I was watching this morning and they are still calling for the "wintry mix" but there is not storm warning posted.

I'm safe though I bought my stock in the toilet paper this weekend. *wink*
