I need to buy a new Vacuum Cleaner this weekend and would love to know what you all have and love.

We have carpet now but will be tearing it out over the next few months (except two bedrooms that will get new carpet) and replaceing it with Laminate flooring. So the Vacuum has to work on carpet and hard floors. I would like to stay under $200 and I want a Vacuum that will last forever(or atleast a very long time). I also need one that isn't very heavy because we have a Tri-Level home and I will need to carry it up and down the stairs and vacuum stairs.

My aunt, who is a clean freak, swears by her Oreck. It's really, really light weight and easy to carry up and down stairs. Good luck!

We have a Kenmore Whispertone. I love it!! It isn't an upright. I think it's called a canister vacuum? My MIL just bought herself one because she loves ours so much. It really vacuums up nicely. It can also be used on bare floors. Runs quietly. It is about 6 years old and is still running like a dream My MIL bought hers about 6 months ago from sears.

I have an Oreck and I HATE it. It is very lightweight, and the cord is extremely long and while it has great sucking power it does not go right up against the wall so I end up with a 1 inch line of dust that I have to get up with something else. It drives me CRAZY!

i just bought a dyson in october and love it ... if u have pet hair it loves it and is easy to change the bag there aint any ... lol and is easy to use ...

I have a Hoover Windtunnel. I like it, it gets the job done. It works on my carpet and bare floors. i wish i had one that didn't require bags...i hate changing the bag.

Well we got a new vacuum tonight. It retails for over $300 and we got it for $150!!!! We bought a floor model and got an extra 25% off. It's pretty heavy that's the only down side I've found so far. I have to say I'm pretty happy with it.

We just got a Dyson too and it is awesome! Great
suction and it will vacuum the whole stairway with the hose while the actual vacuum stays on the ground floor.

We looked at the Dyson and I talked to the sales person about it. I just can't imagine paying that much for a vacuum, but that's just me. I didn't want a bagless vacuum because we have 3 cats and a dog and the hair always got stuck in the filter of my last vac. He also said the Dyson is coming out with a new model in March so the ones that are out now will go down in price...

If you do a search for Vacuum Cleaners on the Sears site it's on the first page and it's called the: Kenmore Deep Plum Progressive Direct Drive Upright Vacuum.
