Candle Wax on Everything!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Candle Wax on Everything!
By Shellyg on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 11:57 pm:

My sister sent me this cool candle in a sea shell (I love shells) for my b-day. The wax spilled out of the shell all over my bar, I went to throw some towels down to stop the flow and the wax ended up all over my shirt and I just discovered it in my hair. I got all the wax off my bar, working on my hair, but how do I get it off my shirt. Of course it is only the second time I have worn this shirt, it was a bit pricey.. Just my luck! Can candle wax come off of a shirt? It is a lot.

Take a credit card and scrape all the wax you can remove from the shirt. Then give it a good spray with Shout or Spray N Wash and rub it in well. Then launder in the hottest water the fabric can take. It should all come out.

1)Put shirt in freezer. The wax will come off easier when frozen
Or
2) Get an old towel and place over shirt. Use a hot iron and iron until the wax transfers to the towel. I used this method for wax on carpet and it worked great!

The iron method is good for carpets and things you can't launder, but the washing works best to remove the grease stain that the wax will leave.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know if it works (crossing fingers).
