What is your "can't live without" home appliance?.......

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: What is your "can't live without" home appliance?.......
By Dana on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 11:17 am:

I think mine is the small food processor I use. I think I pull it out almost every day. It is just the right size. I have a regular big one, but I think I have used it about 6 times in the last several years.

By Karen~moderator on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 11:22 am:

my coffee pot!

By Bea on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 11:41 am:

I use my microwave, my toaster oven and my Oskar food processor daily.

By Trina~moderator on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 11:42 am:

Well the frig is a necessity, but other than that I'd have to say my microwave, hands down.

By Amy~moderator on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 11:55 am:

Microwave and washer/dryer. When we moved into this new house after the fire, we had to pretty much start from scratch buying things for the house. I VERY quickly came to realize just how much I depend on these applicances. A family of 5 with no washer and dryer for a week....frightening! My "favorite" kitchen appliance is my smoothie maker, though.

By Colette on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 12:06 pm:

washing machine and dryer! as for the smaller stuff....probably my coffee bean grinder, it's the only thing I use every day.

By Mrse on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 12:11 pm:

I would say my coffee pot! need that coffee

By Trina~moderator on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 12:46 pm:

Oh gosh, I was thinking kitchen appliances. YES, I love my washer and dryer. Going to the laundry mat is the pits!

By Bellajoe on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 01:58 pm:

coffee pot, microwave and toaster. I can't pick which one!

By Trisa on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 02:10 pm:

Coffee pot!!

By Mommyathome on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 02:11 pm:

Definitely the washer and dryer. I don't know what I would do without it.
Amy...what kind of smoothie maker do you have? I want to get one so bad. Is it the one that has the spout where you can dispense the smoothie from? That is so cool. I want one very soon!

By Yjja123 on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 03:05 pm:

Without a doubt my coffee pot!
I remember my husband driving to an all night Walmart once to get me a new one because mine died---so I guess my family thinks I cannot live without one either. LOL

By Insaneusmcwife on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 03:25 pm:

Does the computer count?

By Colette on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 04:55 pm:

How is a smoothie maker different from a blender? We have soy smoothies almost every morning and I use the blender.

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 05:08 pm:

Smoothie makers sometimes have a rod in the center to help distribute what you are blending. Plus they have a spout to dispense right into a glass. I have no trouble making smoothies in my blender, though.

Washer and Dryer. I can't imagine washing clothes by hand.

Dishwasher
Microwave
Kitchenaid mixer

By Bubbels~admin on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 05:19 pm:

Like Insaneusmcwife, I'd have to say my computer. *grin* My absolute favorite can't live without "appliance" is actually my $1 small whisk broom and dustpan that I keep handy and use all day long. I know. I know. That's not an appliance, so I guess my best CLW appliance would have to be my microwave.

By Bubbels~admin on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 05:21 pm:

Dana, I would've thought you'd have chosen your little robot vacuum - what was it called? Do you still use it?

By Dana on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 06:46 am:

It was a toss up between the two, Bubbles! AFter F~O~U~R tries to get the dang thing working, it has finally been doing well the last month and a 1/2. So I chose my handy processor, since it has never given me a bit of trouble in about 15 years. I use it everyday, and often more than once a day.

I was going to post a product update in a new post, but just haven't gotten around to it. My mom bought a Roomba (the fancy model) and she too is having difficulty with the charger.

By Eve on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 11:26 am:

My stove is up there on my list. I can't imagine cooking over an open fire. Yes, a washer and dryer I could not live without either! :)

By Eve on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 11:27 am:

Air conditioners! My blow dryer is a must have as well. :)

By Colette on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 11:32 am:

ok, computer and ac as well. I am living without a microwave as mine broke and I can't find one I like, a stove and fridge would be no prob, I'd just do takeout.

By Fraggle on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 11:55 am:

My dishwasher-I wish I had two!

By Tonya on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 09:27 pm:

My microwave for sure. I use it always!!! I cook in it allot too.

By Hol on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 10:41 am:

All of the above!! LOL! However, I guess I'd have to say my coffeemaker and my dishwasher. (and, OF COURSE, my computer).

By Cat on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 11:04 am:

Can I just say my whole kitchen??? :)

By Christylee on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 11:19 am:

I think mine would be my dishwasher and microwave.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 12:18 pm:

I think I will have to add my dishwasher, washer and dryer, since a day doesn't go by when they all don't get used.

By Lauram on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 02:27 pm:

All of the above- but my best luxury appliance is my Kitchen Aid mixer. I use it ALL the time. I would NEVER go back to the old ways! I do bake a lot though. IT's very relaxing for me. Hoepfully someone else eats it though! :)

By Babysitbarb on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 02:59 pm:

My washer, I could live without the dryer(not that I want to) but,not my washer.

By Sue3 on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 08:25 pm:

By Jjandmom on Thursday, January 29, 2004 - 10:02 am:
