Booster question for Trina.

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Booster question for Trina.

What are your thoughts on the Graco Turbo Booster? My 3 year old son has the Britax Roundabout seat right now but when the baby comes in July I will put him in a Booster and let the baby have the carseat. I don't want to spend another $200 on a Booster and Consumer Reports gave the Graco Turbo Booster an excellent rating. What do you think?

I have no personal experience with the Graco Turbo booster but CPS techs like it. A few questions... How much does your DS weigh and when will he be turning 4? I'm asking because most kids aren't big enough or mature enough to sit properly in a belt positioning booster until they're at least 4 yrs. and 40 lbs.. My DD (5.5 yrs.) is 37 lbs. lbs. and still in a 5 pt. harnessed seat. She's a busy girl and I know I can't trust her to sit properly in a booster. In her case she *needs* that harness. LOL! However, my DS did fine in a booster at 4 and 40 lbs..

This is the board I go to with car seat questions and concerns.

Car Seats

I have the boosters for both of my children (4 and 7) that have the five point harness and then change into a belt booster.

My dd (7) has had the harness taken out of hers, but I still have my ds in his five point because he is on the small side. But I love how these are made to fit older children because mine both are staying in them till they are eight. (and maybe longer for my daughter...she is a tiny thing and safety comes before coolness in my book!!!)

I have seen so many small four year olds that no longer even use a booster and that just breaks my heart. I'm sure I have made several people mad for saying something to them, but a child's safety comes first to me.

He is 3 and 32 pounds. His birthday was in January. He loves his carseat and I am going to keep him in it as long as possible. I'm thinking the baby will be here in July and will need the Britax seat in October and that is when I would switch him. He is a very good little guy in the car so I'm not worried about him fidgeting with the belt and getting out but I guess you never know.:)
I have a while to think about it I just wanted to check with you and see what you thought.

Thanks.
