One of the Child Passenger Safety Techs on the Car Seat board I visit posted today, "Rumor has it that the Cosco Grand Explorer stopped production on December 31st, 2003." The Cosco Grand Explorer is the only shield booster still in production. Safety experts no longer recommend them. I *hope* this rumor is true!! More info about shield boosters here:

Trina, that would be great! Hope the word gets out to all the ones that are still out there. When we first looked at booster seats for Robin when he was 3 (7 years ago--WOW!!!) we actually bought the one that was a shield booster that you strapped in the car and the shield had a seperate belt that went across the kid (shield swung open). We had to take it back though because we had a Jeep Wrangler at the time and the back of the seat was too low. We ended up with a Breverra. Probably a good thing.
