Answering machine help

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Answering machine help
By Kaye on Monday, January 19, 2004 - 05:06 pm:

I know this will be an odd question, but I need help! My dad is out of town and has ended up recording on his answering machine about 4 minutes of a busy signal, he needs to delete this message so that he can listen to others. (just a side funny, the message after is him saying "this is *** *** I am trying to clear the last message, clear, clear, again, clear or erase the message). So know that we are sure that it isn't voice activiated ROFLMAO< i need to figure out the numeric code to erase it. To check messages I hit #14. Does anyone have an answerimg machine simlar?? My home one has a menu for me, I use call notes. His is an old standard machine! Thanks!

Not sure I understand the problem. Is he trying to recieve the mesg and clear mesge from a different location? No one is around to enter his home and hit the button? Is that correct?

Sounds like you are able to hear messages that came in after that busy mesg. Why not the others? Just listen to them all. Won't it erase them automatically unless they are saved?

My machine is unable to do remote listening or anything else. My old one did. I would hit my code after calling home, then listen to the mesg. then my phone would ask me "do you want to save mesgs?" and say the number to press.

Try doing a search for the owners manual online. I would think that all machines have their own manner to do all this stuff.

Mine will do stuff remotely, but I never remember how to do it. I would have to have instructions with me. Maybe would have to call the manufacturer or check the manufacturer's website. At home, to delete, we just hit the delete button twice.

My dad is out of town, I also live in a different town. So I am calling remotely to get his messages. No big deal except to listen to them you have to listen to the first message. Well that first message is 3 minutes of busy signal, so it sure would be nice to erase that message remotely! I don't know make or anything so I can't really even call someone for help. Short of driving 3 hours to push the delete button I am stuck, checking his messages for him and listening to the busy signal!

That's kind of frustrating.

I have a Uniden answering machine/phone all in one. The code for deleting a message is 04. Playing incoming messages is 02. I don't know if this would work for you or not, since I don't know the brand name of the answering machine.

If you can listen to the messages from a different location than the machine then there is probably a code you can enter after you listen to each message to delete the messages. This is how mine works but you would have to find out the make of ht emachine and cold so a google for the manual. Once you get in with his retrieval password the rest of the #'s are standard for all machines for that brand.

Exactly tonya...i was hoping that someone would say oh yeah my retrival code is #14 and the erase code is ____. Anyone...anyone?

Do you know the brand could you try looking up on the internet a search for the brand and finding thier operations manual?

Kaye, when I call home to check my messages it gives me the different options over the phone. Usually the only one I use is #2 and that is for to check the messages. I have to push a code in before I even get there.
