How old are your kids?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: How old are your kids?
By Mommyathome on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:01 pm:

I was just curious as to how old everyones kids are...and also anxious to see how many kids you had within so many years. I am *really* wanting to have a 4th right now, but thinking that I may be a little nuts.
(I know I could find this info in profiles, but that could take me forever...I'm not quite that patient!)

My kids are
DD 5 1/2
DD 4 1/2
DS 2

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:12 pm:

DS - 7 (born 8/96)

DD - 5 (born 6/98)

By Andi on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:18 pm:

Pregnant - 15 weeks :)

By Jackie on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:38 pm:

By Marg on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:46 pm:

dd - 6/92
dd - 10/95
dd - 7/00

sometimes I wish I would have had the 3rd one closer, but I know it was God's plan due to life circumstances:)

By Annie2 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:48 pm:

My kids are :

12
10 (this month)
8
6.

There is almost 2 1/2 years between oldest two. The last three are 19 months apart from each other. I had four kids in 6 years. It was a challenge sometimes but well worth it!

By Mrse on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 07:56 pm:

daughter born sept 11/86
daughter born aug 31/88
daughter born sept 15/92

I was looking after my sister's daughter, after I had my first two, which delayed me having one more of my own, all four including my niece are born 2 years apart.

We had complications with our last born, if we did not have the problems we had we might have had one more.
I am finding that if I would have had one more after my last that it would have evened things out, 3 is an odd number, always felt we should have had one more.

By Sue3 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 08:04 pm:

DD - 11 (in Feb)
DD - 9
DS - 61/2 (7 in April)

My Dh and myself often wonder where our "babies"
went.They grow up so fast

By Annie2 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 08:37 pm:

Robin, go ahead and have that baby! You are ready to burst with "baby fever"!!!!
You already know you and dh want a fourth. I had mine close together. Best decision we ever made. We knew 3 wasn't working for us, the same as Mrse.
Why are you waiting?

By Brandy on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 08:49 pm:

I have two boys

Nicholas 11/21/94-9years old

Alexander 2/21/97-6 years old going to be 7 in a little over a month. That's it the baby factory is closed

By Bobbie on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 08:54 pm:

Mine are..

DD 14 9/89

DS 12 on 2/92

Twins <DD 7 on 3/97 & DD 7 on 3/97

I think you should do what you want to do. It is your life and your children. Why are you waiting????

By Melanie on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 08:55 pm:

DS-8 (12-8-95)
DS-6 (8-2-97)
DD-2.5 (3-23-01)

By Mommyathome on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 08:55 pm:

LOL Annie...good question. I don't know why we are waiting!!! And saying I'm bursting with baby fever is an understatement LOL
I just *feel* like we should have another one right now. 3 is a hard number. Poor little Cooper gets left out.
I guess I worry to much about what people will think if I show up pregnant AGAIN. I think way too much about what others think.
We also wanted to have things more ready before having another baby. We have room in the house for another, but that means there would be 2 kids in each room. Of course the baby would be in our room for the first while. (we've discussed this thouroughly (sp))
So, I really don't know why we are waiting, other than we "planned" to wait a bit longer. I guess I want the last one to be perfect. Perfect house, perfect car etc....and that's going to be a couple more years! I know, I know, nothing is ever perfect. I keep thinking that as long as there is love...that's all that matters. We definitely have enough love for another baby right now.
Ughh...life can be so confusing sometimes! LOL

By Mommyof4 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:07 pm:

dd 10
dd 7
dd 6
dd 4
ds in China 2

By Babysitbarb on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:07 pm:

DD-14 (2-14-89)
DD-11 (7-12-92)

Baby factory is also closed here.
I always wanted more then 2 but, the hubby came from a family of 6 kids and he never wanted more then 2.

By Debbie on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:14 pm:

ds almost 6 (03-27-98)
ds 3-1/2 (07-06-00)

We are done here. Dh is 42 and doesn't want another. I was back and forth for awhile, but have decided I also don't want anymore. Sometimes I am sad that I don't have a girl. But, it is kind of nice to be the "Queen" of the house.

By Annie2 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:32 pm:

Robin, I hear you about "what people might think". I thought that, too. But only for the reason that my sister was trying to conceive and couldn't. I felt bad telling her I was pregnant and easily pregnant, for the fourth time.
I have my four, she has none. They could have adopted but chose not to. That was her choice...having four kids was mine.
Some days are rough, some days are blissfully peaceful.
Only you and dh can make this decision for yourselves. When and how many. I like my four spaced as they are. It works for us.

By Bellajoe on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:39 pm:

dd is 4 b-day 5/22/99
ds is 3 b-day 11/21/00

They are 18 months apart. We are done having kids. We figure we can do alot more for 2 kids than for 3 or more kids. Sometimes we think we want another, then our son has a tantrum or something and it cures that "i want a baby" feeling real quick! LOL

Robin, if you and your dh have a baby plan in mind and you don't want to break that plan, go find someone with a baby and spend time with the baby. Maybe that will help you get that *baby fix* you need. I got my *baby fix* helping my sister with her 1 month old twins! :)

By Cat on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:48 pm:

Ours are 8 (aug 95) and 10 (oct 93), both boys. We're done. :)

By Yjja123 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 09:55 pm:

Daughter 9
Son 7
No more. Hubby was clipped after my son was born (I had difficult pregnancy--he didn't want me go through it again). I imagine if I had a second daughter we would have had another but one of each seems perfect to us.

By Mommmie on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 10:07 pm:

I have one son, age 9 (10/94).

I'm single, never married, and one is all I can handle!

By Dananivyboo1 on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 11:21 pm:

Have a 19 month old boy.

Ready and trying for # 2.

By Marg on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 06:31 am:

I agree with a lot of you!

Robin go ahead!

Good reasons for trying~

You might not conceive right away~

Nothing ever goes as planned:)

Than when you do have your perfect house, you will have the perfect family to move into it!

All very good mental excuses:)

So go ahead and try:)

BTW, my best friend is due in March with her 5th child. She is due on my birthday, and I'm so happy for her:)

I have a DS who will be 18 on 2/1
DS 9, a DD 3, and a DSD 20. Also a DSS Angel in heaven who is 18.
My baby days are over. They grow so quickly:(

By Kaye on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 09:12 am:

By February mine will be 10, 8 and 6. When my youngest was 18 months to two we really agonized over having another. If there was any way we could have planned it out, we would have done it. We had just moved, I was very overwhelmed and by time we got settled in we found out about my youngest issues. However in hindsight, it is so much work having three in full time school, but I really do wish we had four. This 2 on 1 thing gets old fast. At this point if we were to have one there would be such an age gap I don't think it would help. I still have the baby itch, I think I always will. My dh had the big V, so I know we are finished. There will always be part of me that questions us changing the plan, but ultimately it was God's choice for us to have what we have now. Anyway, my long winded point is, just go for it! I really don't think in a loving relationship that when you get pg you ever think, oh I wish we hadn't done this.

By Babysitbarb on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 09:53 am:

Dawn777, our daughters are the same age. I hope your 14 year old isn't as moody as my 14 year old.

By Tonya on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 10:01 am:

DS - 7/13/98
DD - due 2/14/04 (hopefully sooner!!)

And that is all of the kids I will be having.

By Mommyathome on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 10:31 am:

Marg! This was my favorite thing you said :)
****"Than when you do have your perfect house, you will have the perfect family to move into it!"****
I never really looked at it that way. I'll have to share that with DH.

By Miki on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 10:39 am:

DD- 1/25/94
DD- 7/26/95
DD- 2/13/01

I still have baby fever! I'd love to have another, but my husband says no way, and I'm going to be 36 in a couple of weeks, so I'm kind of nervous about having another.

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 12:09 pm:

Babysitbarb, my 14yo has her moments! LOL! Sometimes I think the 11yo is catching up to her! I remember 14yo being moody long before she got her period. The 11yo is almost 12, so it can't be too far away.

By Bka on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 12:35 pm:

I have my DD 13 months, I would like one or two more but would be happy with just her too! Shes a hand full!!!

By Marg on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 02:30 pm:

lol Robin!

I don't know if you are looking to buy or build a house. But especially if you are building, and you have your children, you will really know what you need and want in a house.

My dad was a self-employed carpenter for over 30 years! I used to love looking through houses as he was building them.

We have made our house into "our dream house" for now, the kitchen is the only problem. The kids love it where we live and that is most important for us. Sometime we may get a "vacation" home or condo somewhere.

Robin, just reading your posts I know you have enough love to go around and that you are a wonderful mom! That's why I encourage you!

We always wanted 4. But we kinda adopted the oldest (Cara, almost 20) she is a true blessing, so we do have our 4 girls.

Good luck and keep us posted:)

By Babysitbarb on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 03:01 pm:

Dawn777, The 14 year old was moody for a year and a half before she got her period and then it got Ok for a while but, now it seems to have come back. She started right before she turned 12. My 11 year old started becoming very touchy a while back and we thought oh no here we go but, hers has gottten better but, no period yet. My 14 year old doesn't have normal periods and I think that has to do with she lost 40 lbs in a years time and she goes off and on on her eating habits.

Ok, I'm new at this and don't know what "DS" and "DD" mean. :-) I am assuming the first "D" means "darling" or "dear" because that's how I feel about my sons and daughters, but I'm not sure. I will simply use "D" for daughters and "S" for sons until I know. :-)

D - 35 years old
S - 29 years old
D - 25 years old
S - 24 years old
S - 21 years old
S - 18 years old
S - 14 years old

Babysitbarb -- They just both have their moments when they are on an even keel and times when they almost seem to want to kill each other!

I wish I have another but I am afraid the second child will also have ADHD too and I won't be able to handle both of them. It is a very tough decision

By Jennln on Monday, January 19, 2004 - 11:41 am:

Love, my oldest child Matthew is bipolar / adhd / ODD. I went on to have four more children since having him and none have shown any tendencies for any types of behavioral problems so far ;) It is a tough decision, and one that only you can say what the right choice would be, but I just wanted to share my personal experience with it :)
