I'm on "the list"!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: I'm on "the list"!
By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 - 03:15 pm:

As most of you know I'm a Child Passenger Safety advocate and want to become a certified CPS technician. Last fall I met and spoke with the director of CT SafeKids. She gave me the name of a CPS Tech Instructor in my area and said he usually has a course in the spring. Today I e-mailed him asking for more information. Minutes later I received a reply with info and was told I would be put on "the list". Woo hoo! I'm psyched yet nervous at the same time. The class will be in April or May, cost $150 and is 4 or 5 days long. It's an hour away so I need to decide if I want to commute or stay at a motel. Still have to be sure DH can take time off work to watch the kids, etc.. Not engraved in stone yet but the closest I've come yet. I've wanted to do this for a loooong time!

BTW, National Child Passenger Safety Week is February 8-14, 2004. :)

That's awesome! Good luck..but I'm sure you'll be fine without it.

That sounds great, Trina! I know that this is something that you are really into. You definitely should go for it.

Great news. If you have the choice, I'd stay in the hotel. Nothing like being able to bathe without interuption. Plus you might enjoy staying up chatting with others in the field.

Awesome, Trina! :) It's about time you have a title to go along with all your good advice! We'd be glad to help out, if DH is unable to take time off of work!

Thanks everyone! :)

Dana, I'm leaning towards the motel. It'll cost more but from what I've been told the class days are long and there is homework. The CPST Instructor told me his classes start at 7 a.m. and go until at least 5, sometimes later. I think an hour commute each way, plus studying on top of that would be brutal. Besides, pay back time would be SWEET! *EG* All those trips DH took for training, thus leaving me home alone with an infant and a toddler... Ahhhhhhhhhh, I could handle a motel room all to myself. text description Yikes, I better start saving my allowance NOW. LOL!

Eve, thanks! M should be able to take a week off but we'll keep you guys in mind as a back up just in case.

Paying $ to get certified so that I can do volunteer work... I must be crazy! LOL! But I WANT to do it anyway!!
