By Sue3 on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 07:12 pm:

WOW ! This weather has been strange.
This is the first year ever that I remember that we had no snow until now!
I am so glad though.
All my dk`s are so excited and if it keeps up I am sure that there will be no school tomorrow.
The roads were really really bad when I came back from meijers.
I kind of hope that they do not have school
then they can enjoy the snow.

By Marg on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 07:18 pm:

What state are you from? We live in PA and it's been incredibly warm here. However, today between 50-60. However, Thursday, the high is supposed to be 17, yipes!!

By Sue3 on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 07:25 pm:

I believe it`s heading your way marg.I am from Michigan.I know what you mean
it has been very warm here also.
We just set a record yesterday because it was 58
degrees!
I planted my bulbs yesterday.
It`s been very strange weather here.
Except for today it`s 25 !
Thats more like January weather.

By Mylittleanimals on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 07:49 pm:

oh I HOPE its heading towards PA!!!

By Renee on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 07:51 pm:

I'm in PA and its been snowing here all day long. The roads are really nasty too.

What a change from the warmer weather we'd been having.

By Mommyathome on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 08:35 pm:

I love snow too!
But, it was sooo cold this morning. -10F. When we went to church, the parking lot was an ice rink. It was so slippery. We still have about a foot of snow left from the storm on Friday night. Snow makes everything look so pretty :)

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 11:20 pm:

We got about 2-3 inches of snow tonight! It is still snowing. Weather Underground said we would only get an inch, but we passed that up a long time ago!

Oh, how I MISS the snow this year! Never thought I would hear myself saying THAT, but boy, do I ever! Last year I was home in Ohio for the winter, but this year I am back in San Diego. (I get to go home in May of 2005 for good, though - I am sure I will complain about the snow once again once I have gotten my fill of it, LOL). There is just something about that first, or even the first few, big snows. I remember going out last year and slipping and sliding all over the road in the truck and loving every minute of it during the first snow - (my family lives in sort of a rural area, so it is much safer to do the donuts and fishtails, lol). I love going outside at night, also, for a few minutes, and listening to the absolute quiet during a snowfall - it is really almost magical. I spoke with my parents there today and they had a winter storm warning, and freezing rain had just started to fall. Have fun in the snow ladies, and think of me here in San Diego - it is FREEZING here, but of course there will be no snow, just yucky cold! Hope your little ones enjoy the day if they get school off - I remember how much fun that was!

Take Care,
Heather

I love being out in the snow, too! I took the dog for a walk, so I could walk in the snow. I also love how quiet it is!

Here in NE PA we have an ice problem today. Our school was closed because of the bad roads. I think I would much rather snow then the ice. But it does look very pretty on the trees. Just a fine glaze. It is suppose to get bitter cold here the end of the week.

By Cat on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 09:52 am:

Sue, my mom said I96 just east of GR was a parking lot yesterday afternoon. She and a friend went to Perkins for lunch and then to a spa store on 28th street and when they came out the parking lot and cars were covered! We got about 6 inches Saturday and then about another 1/2 inch yesterday. I had snow on my shoes yesterday after church so when I got out of my car at a store I fell even though the paring lot wasn't icy! Boy, I'm stiff today! Could have been worse. :) Glad you finally got some snow up there. :)

By Dananivyboo1 on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 10:11 am:

Oh I hope it doesnt come to PA!! I only like the snow so much. My family and I just got back from NC visiting family and it was in the 70's..I liked it much better than the teen degrees here. Maybe I need to move to a warmer climate, although I do like the snow once in awhile

By Sue3 on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 10:31 am:

Cat, I was in the same area as your Mom!
The roads were bad.
No school cancelations today though two of my dk`s are home today complaining of
stomach cramps .
The school said that they had numerous call
ins this morn.
You better take a hot bath! That will help your sore muscles.Glad you didn`t break anything.
We are suppose to get alot more snow tonight!!
YIPPEEE !!!!!

By Cat on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 06:08 pm:

Sue, I could use a hot bath. Both for the stiffness and the stress!!! Dk's go back to school tomorrow. Robin broke the glass in one of my sconces today (threw a pillow down the hallway and knocked in down) and they're all getting a bit crazy. The sconce in a Home Interiors and I checked their website and they don't even sell it anymore. :( I'll have to keep an eye on eBay. Calgon... :)

By Sue3 on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 07:39 pm:

awww , sorry you had a bad day cat
Good idea to check on e-bay
I bet you will find it.
I love e-bay.
I was going to get so much done today cleaning wise that is, and all I did was cook !
It must be the cold snowy weather.
I made a very large batch of spaghetti sauce,
and cooked up some dry pinto beans in the crock pot for future use in mexican dishes
and I grilled some chicken breasts marinated in teriaki sauce on the grill.
Well, I`ll start on the house work tomorrow Lol!
It is snowing like crazy , I am so excited.
Hope tomorrow will be better for you.
It will, the kids will be back in school....
unless........ you have a snow day!!!!!
You probably don`t want to think about that.LOL

By Mrse on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 07:47 pm:

It has already snowed here, Vancouver Island, it is really cold not sure of temp, but they are calling for more snow tonight. Alot of people have frozen pipes, and running out of fire wood, dh nephew only had eneough for tonight, so my dh gave him some of ours, and we have hardly any left, and if the snow keeps coming we will not be able to get our truck into the wood lot.wish it could be summer again.

By Karen~moderator on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 09:55 pm:

Well, we've gone from mid to high 70's the last few days, wearing shorts and tshirts, to cold and wet tonight, and tomorrow will only be highs in the 40's. That's *winter* for us.

By Annie2 on Monday, January 5, 2004 - 10:00 pm:

I'm with Karen on this one. We had our AC on over the weekend and tomorrow the heat.

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 - 07:39 am:

70's and 40's??? Try -4 and a -22 wind chill. Yes, winter is definitely here in WI. We have about 2.5 inches of snow on the ground, so that makes it even colder. Not cold enough to cancel school, though, so I need to get everybody up momentarily!

By Sue3 on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 - 07:53 am:

Wow mrse,
I can`t even imagine what you are going through.
Do the schools get canceled when
the temps are that cold?
They must , if the pipes are frozen.
Hope you stay warm.

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 - 06:39 pm:

School wasn't cancelled where I live, in WI. There is a limit to cold enough, but I'm not sure where that is. There was a time in the last 7 years that school was cancelled for cold weather, but the temp itself was quite a bit below zero and the windchill even lower.
