Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: It is WAAAAAY toooooo COLD
By Paulas on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 01:01 pm:

I'm looking for a family in the south to adopt me please!!!

Today is it -32C...that's about -23F, I believe.
Tomorrow it is supposed to go to -38C. I can't even tell you what that is in F because my thermometer doesn't even go that low.

WAAAAAY TOOOOOO COOOOLDDDDD!

By Marg on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 01:04 pm:

That is way too cold, bbbrrrr.... We have been lucky, it's been unusually warm here!

By Karen~moderator on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 01:30 pm:

Paula, I'll adopt you. :-)

We are mid 70's here today, and I'm *not* happy about that - I am DYING for some *real* winter weather!

By Kaye on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 02:10 pm:

I had to turn on my ac yestrday because it got too warm in the house...ugh!

By Karen~moderator on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 02:12 pm:

Kaye, mine's been on for a few days. UGH! I'm impatiently waiting for Monday, when a cool front is supposed to pass through our area.

By Bellajoe on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 02:18 pm:

Kaye, where in Ohio are you? I'm in NE Ohio and it hasn't been THAT warm here. It was about 45-50 degrees here earlier today, but a cold front has come through and it is cooler again.

Paula, That is cold!! Brrrrr!

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 04:38 pm:

I live on the east coast of Wisconsin. It is about 30 degrees right now. Tomorrow we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow and then the bottom drops out!

We are supposed to have daytime highs in the the teens and below zero at night!

-23C is about -9F! Brrrr! Winter will be upon us with a vengeance!

Then there's the wind chill factor, too! I work as a lunchlady and I don't think we are going to be going outside all week! Well, maybe Friday when the temps go up into the 20's.

We do go out when it's in the teens, but only if the wind chill isn't too low.

By Jackie on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 04:46 pm:

Weather is crazy everywhere isnt it? We have 73 degrees today and tomorrow. Believe me when I say Imnot complaining. But, even this is too warm for Va Beach. Friday its suppose to be back down to 36, can you believe that?

By Mommyathome on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 04:59 pm:

We've been at about -4F. And today...FINALLY....we got a *real* snow storm. We woke up to 12 inches of fresh snow on the ground. A little late for Christmas, but it surely looks beautiful. All the guys in the neighborhood are out on their 4-wheelers clearing snow....I just love it!

By Dana on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 05:23 pm:

You can come to my house! :)

It doesn't get any better than this. We are all in shorts, the windows are open. We spent much of the day at the park. Talked about going to the beach to see the waves, but decided we didn't feel like fighting the crowds that are sure to be there.

This is exactly what FL is all about!!!!!

By Cat on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 06:20 pm:

It's 23*F right now and it's been snowing all day. Just a light snow, so we've only gotten a couple of inches. The kids are out playing in it right now and dh is "sweeping" the driveway. It's never heavy enough to shovel! lol It was 55*F yesterday. It'll all be gone in a day or two and it'll probably be in the 50's again next week. Gotta love Colorado weather! :)

By Paulas on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 06:29 pm:

Okay Dana! I'm on my way.

I'm wondering how many kids will be in my class on Monday. At -40C they don't run the buses but town students and teachers are still expected to attend.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

By Marcia on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 06:33 pm:

Paula, are you at the northern tip of BC??? That's WAY too cold for sure!!!!
It was 52 in Southern Ontario today. It's supposed to drop to around the freezing mark tomorrow, and we might get a bit of snow. I can't remember ever having such great weather at this time of year!

By Kaye on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 06:53 pm:

LOL..guess I should update the profile. I moved to texas this summer...way too hot here!

By Paulas on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 07:00 pm:

I'm in northern Alberta now. Moved here in the summer.

By Tonya on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 07:23 pm:

I am in Michigan are you ladies ready for this it was 57 here yesterday and now tomorrow we are due to get 4-8 inches of snow! I hate Michigan weather.

By Bobbie on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 11:08 pm:

Tonya we in Ohio are in the same boat. Was in the mid to high 50's here for the last couple of days. Temps are coming down fast suppoised to be 10 degrees F by Wednesday night and it looks like we are to have snow or a chance of it starting tomorrow and every day after that through the week. The thing that upsets me is that for the past two weeks when it could have dumped buckets and I wouldn't have had to gone out it did nothing but rain. And now that I have to drive DD to school Monday it is going to snow.... I am ready to move down South too. I hate driving in the snow.... And this up and down weather drives me nuts and does nothing but make every one sick..

By Dana on Saturday, January 3, 2004 - 11:09 pm:

Just let me know when to expect you Paula. It really is wonderful!

By Kay on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 02:54 pm:

Kaye -
Hi, I'm the other Kay (no 'e')...I'm in Texas, as well (what are the odds?). I've lived here all my life, so I guess I'm used to the heat (doesn't mean I have to like it, though :))

We're in central Texas, and we went from very warm and muggy this past week to a north wind this morning. *Much* more pleasant, in my opinion! Weather changes and humidity always bring on my worst migraines...I was up this morning at 6 with one that's just now easing somewhat.

My heart ACHES for people and animals that are forced to live outside in this weather. Everytime I hear my furnace start up, I thank the Lord,(and my DH, who works so hard to provide for his family), that I have a home, and heat and lights, and a warm bed. Many do not.

They were asking people on the news tonight to PLEASE bring pets inside. People THINK that their fur protects them, but it only keeeps them as warm as your winter coat keeps you. You wouldn't want to be outside for too long, even WITH the coat.
I personally have always believed that animals are a part of the family, so ours sleep with us. However, if your pet is outside, please bring it into a garage, barn or basement, if you don't want it in the house.
