This happened about a week ago, but I keep thinking about it. I was thinking that maybe if I posted, it would help me move on~

The remaining kids (except the 9 year old) were at the press conference, and they were just crying and crying as the uncle spoke. Such an awful awful thing to happen, especially at Christmas.
The family was on their way home to Washington state after being in Arizona for what the family is calling was thier "dream Christmas vacation". The motor home was rented, and they were planning on being home the same day that the accident occured.
This stuff just makes me feel so awful. Definitely makes you even more thankful for your family

Oh no! How terribly sad and tragic. :( They will be in my prayers.

It probably would not have made a difference considering the circumstances of this particular accident, but generally speaking motor homes are not very safe for passengers who are not properly restrained. Each passenger needs to have a front facing vehicle seat with a lap and shoulder belt for the best protection. Children need to be restrained just as in a regular passenger car. Passenger seats that fit these criteria are very limited in motor homes.

Yeah Trina, that's what they said...most likely none of the kids were wearing seatbelts (because they weren't available). It was unknown, last I heard, about the parents seatbelt status. I have never really been fond of motor-homes for the safety issue. Most likely, if you are in a motor home, you will be up and about or just lounging around while it's on the move.
In the future, if we ever have the opportunity to make such a large purchase, I think I would select a nice fifth wheel trailer over the motor home. That way, everyone can be buckled inside the truck.
