Patti--More Info on Your Shoe 'Boxes' Please! Robin, too!

Patti, can you describe your shoe box thingy you got from Home Depot? Is it something you can leave out in sight or are you supposed to hide it away in the closet? The people before us REMOVED the closet in the family room and now when we come inside from the garage, directly into the family room, there is no where to put shoes or coats!! We have some hooks up for coats, and a coat tree, but the shoes look awful.

Robin, we bought a bench that opens up for the purpose of storing shoes and hats and mittens and also sitting down to put on the shoes and such. The problem is it's TINY inside. I think most of them would be. And the shoes just pile up inside unless you have some sort of organizer. I looked and looked for a shoe organizer that would fit inside and could not find one. It's been an expensive, frustrating 'solution' to my shoe problem. It was a good idea and looks nice but it really didn't solve our problem. So when you look, just make sure you measure the inside and determine if you can really make good use of it.

Thanks for the info Kate! We have piles of shoes at the front door and the back door. I don't mind them at the back door, because it's in the laundry room and no one can see them.

Our shoe box thing is in our laundry room. Not in a closet, but depending on the size of a closet it may fit inside of it.

It is made of...particle board i would say. The 'boxes' the shoes stay in are like a grid pattern. There are like 25 little boxes or holes to put your shoes in. It's 5 boxes across and 5 down The kids can fit both their shoes in it because they are little. And most of my pairs of shoes can fit into a box also. Of course my dh with bigger shoes fits only one shoe in each box. I beleive we got it at Home Depot or lowes.

Here's a link...i hope it works.
I found it a Lowe's.com. The one pictured is a bit smaller than mine.

Here's the size of the one we have....except ours is not white. It looks wooden, actually it's the color of our maple cabinets. I hope this helps you.

Thanks Patti! Those are nice! I think a wooden one below the coat hooks might do nicely! Thanks for all the trouble you took to find links!

No trouble at all! We actually have ours right under our coat hooks in the laundry room too. It's nice and easy especially for the kids to hang their own coats and put their own shoes away.
