Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: New Year's Resolutions?

Does anyone have any New Year's Resolutions set? A few of mine are:
~get caught up on scrapbooking!!
~get all of our closets cleaned/de-junked and organized with closet organizers.
~Eat healthier foods
~Be a better mom and wife
~Get some debt paid off, and try to save more money

I'm going to search for this post in 6 months and see how I'm doing LOL

Our Resolution:
"The year 2004 Equals Bills No More".
We intend to pay off credit cards and both vehicles this year so our only debt will be the house. Then we are going to buy a boat.

I never really have any resolutions because i know i would just be kidding myself LOL!

get caught up on scrapbooking sounds like a good one...i'll just copy that from Robin, if she doesn't mind! LOL

LOL Patti....copy on! I am so far behind, hopefully I can get it caught up before I forget everything about the pictures. I also set some small resolutions...that I *know* I can do..just so I will feel good about actually completing some LOL. Like...take my vitamins everyday...keep the shoes away from the front door (we take out shoes off in the house and they always just get piled and left by the front door)....
So, I know I can do little ones like that!

I resolved a long time ago not to make New Year's resolutions...

(and I kept that resolution :) )

LOL, Sunny!

Robin, I haven't Scrapbooked since like...May! I'm working on my ds's baby book, just the first year of his life. He is 3 now! And i am still at around 6 months old in the book! It's just impossible to do scrapbooking when the kids are awake and by the time they are in bed, i'm ready to crash myself! LOL!

I can say the same thing, we always take off shoes in our house. It's a house rule. We found a nice box for shoes at Home Depot. It has individual little square boxes for shoes. It works perfectly for us. The kids even know to put their shoes in the boxes..and they are 3 and 4 yrs old.

Really Patti? I will have to look for something similar for the shoes. I would really like something that closes up, so it just looks like a bench or an end table of something. And, I don't want the shoes just piled in there....the individual boxes sounds pretty cool.

My resolution was to take my bedroom back. I say that because since my dh and I live with my FIL, we share our bedroom with Sarah. We used to do that with no problems but Sarah decided that she was going to turn into a light sleeper and whenever we would go into the bedroom for bed, she would wake up and not go back to sleep. Our solution was to not sleep in that room anymore so we have been sleeping on the couch for 2 1/2 months now. In conclusion, we really are going to try to take our bedroom back!

No resolutions here. Just going to be thankful for each day and take it one day at a time.

I make one a year. Last year was to only pay for gas with cash instead of swiping my credit card bec it was easier. (I don't have an ATM card.) After a year of that I found it hard to always have $20 on me for gas, I just got a gas card that I pay off each month which is the same idea for me. Don't "finance" gas.

The year before was not to cut any length off my hair no matter how bad it got during the "bushy" stage it has to go through before it gets to a good length.

Are these weird or what?

This year is to pay off and close one of my two credit cards and to write down every penny I spend. I did this 12 or so years ago and it was very enlightening. I'd like to see how it goes now that I have kid expenses. Just how much do I spend on goodies for him??

All y'alls scrapbook comments explain why our closest scrapbooking store went belly up last month.

Resolutions...hmmm I seem to make a lot of them. My biggie this year is to organize some part of my life. Things have just run way to chaotic in my house. So I have spent the past several days starting that process. I know that an overall do it all perfect thing won't work. But I do think if I can start school with a place for each kids back pack and a place to put papers etc, that it can't hurt. today was clean the craft table off. I can only think that if I can't find the scrapbook stuff that I can't use it..LOL. I have literally spent 4 hours on the craft desk today! Right now half of it is in nice piles here in the study...I will finish up tomorrow! the saddest part is I haven't scrapped but once in 6 months and haven't bought anything new in a least a year!

My other resolution...to work on my tennis game so that I can play line 1 and win regularly. I compete with a ladies league and injured myself in sept, since taking a 10 week medical leave my game just bites! I was finally getting into good form and shape to be stuck on my butt doing nothing and I think I am worse off than when I started now! UGH!
