Romantic rain forest

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Romantic rain forest
By Yjja123 on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 - 04:36 pm:

OK, I am planning a romantic night with my hubby.
I am going to have a trail of rose petals that lead him to our bedroom then to the porch (sliding glass door in our bedroom leads to porch)
We have a hot tub on the porch which will be hot and ready for relaxation. Our porch has nothing but the hot tub on it so I plan on buying a few small palm trees and I am using a fog machine.
The theme is "Night in a rain forest". I also have a sound machine that makes cricket noises and rain noises.
That is as far as I have planned
Any more ideas?
What else does a rain forest need?
I will have food but haven't figured out what yet.

Bananas Flambe'

1/4 cup butter
6 firm bananas, peeled and sliced in half lengthwise
1/2 cup brown sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup Kirsch

Melt butter in top of chafing dish over flame. When hot, add bananas. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture; fry bananas until lightly browned. Turn bananas and fry the other side, sprinkling with remaining brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. If necessary or desired, add more brown sugar and cinnamon.
Pour 1/2 cup Kirsch over the bananas and carefully ignite. Serve over vanilla ice cream or alone with a dollop of whipped cream.

Stuffed parrots in the trees. Clear twinkle lights all around.

Thanks Bea!
Any more ideas anyone?

very sexy bikini or nothing at all lol! That is really sweet!

How about a babbling brook ? One of those indoor electric fountains. A medium sized one would sound great with the rest of the ambience. Food wise, fresh exotic fruit is always a great idea- mangoes, , papaya , guava even. You can also get mango and guava nectars at any supermarket and juices at any healthfood store.Chocolate covered strawberries would work nicely too!
I'm loving the sexy bikini idea . Rain forest theme would require you to come up with something along the lines of a grass or a leaf skirt if you can.Native girls usually have nothing or next to nothing on top.Just some fancy jewelry around their necks. Edible jewelry would be a great idea too if you want to thread together strawberries, or whatever else your husband finds yummy. A snake skin design wouldn't hurt either.A bit of effort required but should be well worth it. The memories that you guys will make will be wonderful!!
As you might have guessed, I've done something along similar lines. I had been away for a year in Europe ( work related and impossible to avoid). My husband flew into London every few months and I always tried to keep things different and memorable.

Wow, that sounds cool!:)

The only thing I can think of is a tropical drink with an umbrella....Have fun!

I found the fogging machine at party city.
I am going to put twinkle lights on the palm trees.
Rain/thunderstorm sound on sound machine.
Tropical drinks, Chicken pineapple kabobs, chocolate covered stawberries are on the menu
I have a new swimsuit with sarong that I am going to wear---coconut top or a bikini sound great but not for me ;)
Currently looking for a stuffed parrot or even a large stuffed snake.
I am going to do this for Valentines Day--so I have enough time to plan and get everything I need to transform the porch.
Any more ideas?

I have scented bath salts for our hot tub. Coconut or mango scent would be tropical.

By Yjja123 on Thursday, January 1, 2004 - 06:01 pm:

Bea where do you get the bath salts? Are they made specifically for the hot tub?

By Bea on Thursday, January 1, 2004 - 11:33 pm:

They sell them at spa and pool supply stores. Yes they are made for hot tubs.

By Yjja123 on Friday, January 2, 2004 - 06:27 pm:

Great! I am looking for a pool supply shop (usually get our chlorine/etc from Walmart).
I am sure there are a bunch around here.
Scented hot tub sounds lovely!
