Has anyone heard much about or tried Avlimil?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Has anyone heard much about or tried Avlimil?
By Dana on Sunday, December 28, 2003 - 01:34 pm:

(Its a s*x pill for women)

It is suppose to help put a little spunk back into your drive. I went to the website (avlimil.com). It is non prescription.

I know several of us women here on this board have complained about "after the kids" or tiredness, menopause and so on.

Just curious if there is any feedback on it.

By Jodie on Sunday, December 28, 2003 - 05:20 pm:

I'm curious too. I wonder if the pill actually helps create the mood or just maintains and prolongs your natural state of emotion?? Viagra doesnot create mood it just prolongs it. Hmm ? Just cirious. If it works , a little extra oomph never hurts.

I just got my free 30 day trial. LOL I had to stop taking some of the hormones I was on since my hysterectomy, so I figured I'd give it a shot. wink

By Dana on Sunday, December 28, 2003 - 09:56 pm:

Karen, did you order over the phone or internet? Are you set up w/ the automatic monthly shipment? Did your dr recommend it?

DH says it may be the best $420 he has ever spent ($35/month/yr), and is ready for me to sign up for it. I am a bit apprehensive.

Karen, once you start taking the pills, can you report back to me if it changes the way your sweat smells. I know, odd question. When I was trying to breast feed DD I took an herb that cause my armpits to have this really sweet smell that made me sick. I don't want to invest the money (even though you get first month free) if it is going to make me smell funny. The website says that the benefits start after the first 4-6 wks but sometimes as long as 12 (I think it said)...either way, you need to invest in a few months to decide if it works for you.

They do have a full money back IF and only if you take them for a full 12 months and are unhappy w/ results.

I would be interested in knowing how well this works too and if it's available in Canada

By Karen~moderator on Sunday, December 28, 2003 - 10:45 pm:

I just ordered the 30 day free trial....I haven't started taking it yet. DH wants me to check it out on the FDA site or something like that.

By Dana on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 08:00 am:

Karen, you can get the 30 day trial without having to purchase the following months? I guess you ordered over the phone since the website does not even mention the 30 day trail ordering. It mentions it exists, but does not show how to order it.

It will be interesting to see how they help you if at all.

I've heard of this but am very hesitant to try it without discussing it with my OB/GYN first. Karen, I agree with your DH. I'd want to thoroughly check it out before hand. Since going off BC pills I'm doing much better in that department. :)

Avlimil Pills - Call this number 1-800-476-3050 for a FREE 30 day sample cycle pack of these pills. I do not know if you will have to pay for shipping or handling.

By Missy3 on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 01:04 pm:

Hubby just got a snippy! So now I will check into Ablimil without hesitation....

By Karen~moderator on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 03:55 pm:

Dana, I ordered it online, I just had to keep clicking around until I found where it said *free 30 day trial*, then at the *checkout*, I just unchecked the box where they will automatically send subsequent months to you and bill you.

By Dana on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 04:14 pm:

Let me know if you find that link again. I have been all over that site looking for it. I will go look again.

By Feona on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 05:36 pm:

Dana,

The 1-800 didn't work?

By Dana on Monday, December 29, 2003 - 07:37 pm:

I'm just never on the phone, Feona. Don't ask why. I just prefer not to call. Usually it is because during regular hours I am just not thinking about picking up the phone. It is after hours that I think about calling. Also, I like being able to print out or save a registartion email for my records.

I thought about calling about 6 times today, but each time I was not near the phone when the thought crossed my mind.

I'll get around to it eventually.

Hmmmmmm, I am only 21 and whenever DH sees the commercial he says I desperately need to get it. I agree with him but am I too young? I guess i'll check out the website.........

By Babysitbarb on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 - 06:40 pm:

Hey, glad to hear Im not the only one who needs some help in this area. Im anxoius to hear how it works also.My husband has seen commercials also and says that's what you need but,Im not one for just taking something without knowing the side affects.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 - 08:01 pm:

These are the ingredients as listed on the box:

"Avlimil Proprietary Blend 756 mg

Sage leaf, red raspberry leaf, kudzu root extract, red clover extract, capsicum pepper, licorice root, bayberry fruit, damiana leaf, valeriana root, ginger root, black cohosh root.

Contains no steriod hormones, sugar, yeast, preservatives or artificial flavors.

Avlimil promotse better blood flow and increased muscular relaxation for an improved sexual experience."

I have NO idea *how* or *if* this stuff will have any effect, but I do know that black cohosh root is commonly used for hormonal imbalance related hot flashes, etc.

As for the better blood flow, I'll bet the capsicum pepper gets it going - if I'm thinking of the correct thing, that's the stuff that's in that capscacin cream that's REALLY hot.
