Your absolute favorite candle that produces scent?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Your absolute favorite candle that produces scent?
By Truestori on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 11:17 am:

I have been trying different candles and still haven't found one that fills the room with aroma. I am wondering what brand and scent everyone here has had goodluck with? Any ideas to perk up scents around the house would be helpful, also. TIA

By Vicki on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 11:19 am:

My favorites: Yankee Candle in the Home Sweet Home scent and Home Interiors Baked Apple pie. I have a very open floor plan in my home and it is hard to find a candle that fills the air. Both of these are wonderful!

By Trisa on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 11:20 am:

Yankee is my all time fav!
I have an apple cinnamon burning right now.
They have one called butter cream that is great for the kitchen. It smells good enough to eat!

By Kaye on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 11:29 am:

I have had the best luck with the home interiors baked apple pie.

By Yjja123 on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 11:32 am:

Yankee Candle gets my vote
(the tarts that melt in a burner)
Gingerbread tarts are our favorite--but they are very dangerous--they make ya crave sweets :)
Any Yankee candle will fill the house with scent!
Happy Holidays!
Yvonne

I would have to go with the Home Interiors bannana bread, baked apple pie, or sugar cookie...Yup I'm hungey...

By Mommyathome on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 12:08 pm:

Hands down, my vote is for
Salt City Candles
Sugar Cookie Scent

It fills the whole house with that warm scent. Not too sweet, just right!!

By Marg on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 12:14 pm:

Stori, I'm gonna send you one of my favorites (but now I have two) after Christmas.

www.pilgrimcandle.com ~ Carrot cake, or any coffee flavor

And I have a new one called Candied Fruit, by A Cheerful Giver www.acheerfulgiver.com, it smells good enough to eat...

By Truestori on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 12:19 pm:

Ahh,
Marg you are too sweet! You don't have to do that... I know you have enough going on!

Thanks for all the recommendations..I told my husband, a candle a room is all I ask!! LOL
He thinks I went nuts! :)

I really like Votivo brand - Vanilla Grapefruit is my favorite.

By Pchydolphin on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 12:54 pm:

I have two favorite brands, Saltcity candles and Cobblestone. Welcome home is my favorite in the Cobblestone and I like all different scents in Saltcity. Long burner, and very strongly scented. Hope this helps.

By Trisa on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 01:03 pm:

I just remembered something I saw on QVC.
They had Soy candles. I have never used these but they said they have a MUCH longer burn time. Just a FYI!

By Cat on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 01:13 pm:

I've always loved Home Interior candles. I don't burn candles much anymore, though. I can't while day care kids are here (base reg) and when they're not we're usually downstairs where the family room/den is and I don't like to leave them burning when I'm not up here. I guess I could put one downstairs, huh? :)

By Mommyof4 on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 01:19 pm:

You should try sugar shack candles. They are made here in Nebraska and they have a very strong scent (strong but very nice) and the fragrance fills the room quickly. In Nebraska you can find them in a lot of retail stores but I do think that you can buy them on line at
http://www.sugarshackcandles.com.

My favorite is the Gold Canyon candles. They fill the whole house with their scent.I think they are better then the yankee candles. I don't like the home interior ones at all. The homa and garden ones are ok but the smell doesn't go throught the whole house. My sister-in-law sells the Gold Canyon and they also have a web site which of course is www.goldcanyon.com. Im hooked on these.
Also I forgot to mention the whole candle burns not just the middle. Most of them have 2 wicks.

My Yankee Candles are great at making my home smell heavenly. I also use essential oils to refresh my potpourri fairly often. I buy these at Bath and Body Works and at Crabtree and Evelyn. At Christmas I use a mixture of a fresh pine scent and one that is a blend of orange oil, cinnamon and cloves. MMMMM It smells like Christmas to me.

By Sue3 on Thursday, December 25, 2003 - 05:12 am:

I use yankee tarts. Also I use the candles to!
The tarts seem to give off a stronger scent though, my favorite is clean cotton,
so fresh smelling!

By Kay on Friday, December 26, 2003 - 02:23 pm:

I have some that fill the room with scent simply by opening the jar! A company near our town offered the candles as a fundraiser for our high school dance team a year ago, and it was very successful. The company's name is Plumnelli, located in Whitney, Texas. The candles cost us around 6.50, and we sold them for either 11.00 or 15.00. These candles were approximately 15 oz. and each had 2 wicks. Heavenly!

I have the phone numbers of the company if anyone is interested - I don't know if they sell individually or not (I just found out about them through someone who knew a mom from our team).

I have to agree on Yankee Candles. I like the tarts, also. They are cheaper, and give off more scent. I LOVE 'Sage and Citrus', and 'Midsummer Night's Dream'.

By Mommyathome on Saturday, December 27, 2003 - 12:55 pm:

BabysitBarb....I like the Gold Canyon candles too, because of the double wick. My favorite is Sugar Cookie.

By Jbarrj2112 on Sunday, December 28, 2003 - 09:19 pm:

I like the Yankee candles, as well. They are great! My favorite candles, however, are a tie between A.I. Root candles (from my hometown in Ohio), and Crabtree & Evelyn candles. They have just about any scent you can imagine, and some of them can get very strong (enough to fill an entire home). My favorite scents are Patchouli and Black Forest, but they carry anything you could think of. I am not sure where all they are available, but when I can't find those (as I am now in San Diego), I definitely stick with Yankee candles. Also, if I recall correctly, I think Williams-Sonoma has candles in a few scents, and they smell great. Hope you find something that works for you!

By Mrse on Sunday, December 28, 2003 - 09:43 pm:

I love the Vanilla candles, but I am allergic to scents so I can not have them on for long. My noise gets itchy, and I start sneezing :(

By Annie2 on Thursday, January 1, 2004 - 08:42 pm:

Just bought 3 Cold Mountain candles in the scents of Peppermint Stick, Gardenia and Lilac. I am sold on them from now on. A wonderful candle!
More scent throughout the entire house without that waxy smell!

By Annie2 on Thursday, January 1, 2004 - 09:02 pm:

I meant Gold Canyon Candle. :)

By Pchydolphin on Friday, January 2, 2004 - 01:40 pm:

Can I get the Yankee candles online? Does anyone know the website?

By Mommyathome on Friday, January 2, 2004 - 02:06 pm:

Here is the website: http://www.yankeecandle.com/cgi-bin/ycbvp/retail.jsp

I haven't ever tried yankee candles, but it looks like they have quite a collection.

E-bay also has quite a few candles...you might check there as well.

My dear dil and her mother both love scented candles and believe Yankee Candles to be the best in terms of scent and being long-lasting. Personally, scented candles upset my sinuses, so I never use them.

By Tonya on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 - 11:06 am:

I love all Party-lite candles. I am not big on floral scented candles but I love the sweet stuff.

By Andi on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 - 11:42 am:

Yankee Candle Company Home sweet Home and Tulip flavors are just two of my favorites. Glade has a candle in the grocery store that is 3 tone blue. I forget the name but I love that one too.

By At2bells on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 - 06:49 pm:

Does anyone know of a brand other than Yankee that has heavenly smelling candles that will fill up a home?

By Babysitbarb on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 - 09:36 pm:

Yes, Gold canyon! I like them better then the Yankee candles.
