Kids and email

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2007: Kids and email
By Kaye on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 - 08:38 am:

Not a question...just a vent I guess. My oldest two kids are about 18 months apart. The last couple of days they have been just eating at each other. Last night the younger (almost 12) called his sister (13) a witch. Oh and didn't quite use that word. She likes to wind him up, he gets impatient, and apparently is trying out a new intermediate school vocab. Ugh! But I do know this too shall pass, and mom is having to be very tough on both of them. So this am, I pop on to their email accounts, just to check up. They have each sent each other no less than 10 emails. The conversation goes liket this...
you r stupid,
no, i am not, y r a dork
no u r
no, i am pretty sure it is u
no no, you are the one
nope u r
no u

get the picture...geesh!
they just got an emailled parental warning, that these emails are not appropriate use of this priveledge, and suspension will occur at the next offense.

Ah...fun fun days are headed this way!

They are in the same int school this year and my dd is having adjustment issues having to share her turf again. Top it off they have one teacher in common and there is a bit of jealosy there.

I would print off the warning and hand it to them, with a threat of removing their computer prigilages... Kids can be terrible to each other that is for sure. Best of luck... My only suggestion is a matter of fact talk about what will and what will not be tolerated from them and a set of punishments if they don't get it together.. Intervention is in order for sure.

Yikes! I don't think my kids ever did that to each other! I agree with losing computer privileges, if this continues! LOL!

It is pretty funny to read. My son emailed me an apology and a promise that he will not abuse email again. He is so cute. My dd went and cleaned out her inbox. So I guess point taken :)

My first thought when I read this was at least you didn't have to hear it!!! Kids gotta love em.

By Tarable on Thursday, September 20, 2007 - 09:27 am:

I think I heard that very conversation 12 times this morning while my girls were getting ready to go to school.
Ah, gotta love siblings sometimes. Maybe there really is a reason someone would want an only child... I know sometimes I do. (Just Kidding)

So this is what I have to look forward to next year when my youngest goes to middle school with my oldest?

By Kaye on Thursday, September 20, 2007 - 10:42 am:

Yes tara...next year will be fun. Actually last night they were sweet angels to one another, I guess the crisis has past.

I think the biggest factor playing into this is, my 6th grade son, right in the throws of puberty, he is a ball of emotions. He is my very serious kid, no nonsense, so he doesn't give much leeway some days. My dd is having that time of month. And honestly at 13 she is our biggest issue. That cute little roll of the eyes, the big sih, the "oh mom", etc, it is more fun than words can show :)
