EGG Question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2007: EGG Question
By Andi on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 06:24 pm:

I made some Hard Boiled eggs today fo the kids. After I cooked them I cooled them in ice water then put them in the fridge. I just went to eat one and they are not completley cooked...I'm guessing they need about 4 more minues of boiling. Can I recook them or are they ruined?

By Vicki on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 06:38 pm:

I really don't have a I know for a fact answer, but I would toss them myself.

I also don't know for a fact but I'd just cook them again. They've been refrigerated the whole time and I'm guessing they've just been soft-boiled instead of hard-boiled.

id peal them and just nuke them in the microwave myself just a moment or two

Hard-boiled eggs will explode in a microwave and I saw it happen once! In a hospital, where I used to work, sometimes they had cold hard-boiled eggs and sometimes they had warm ones. On a cold-egg day, one girl stuck an egg into the microwave to warm it up. It really went, "Kaboom!"

I have re-boiled them, without problem. :)

Oh! Eggs. I thought you meant EEG (as in electroencephalogram) and just typed too fast. LOL

Eggs? No clue.

By Marcia on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 08:02 am:

Pam, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Every time I see this I think she meant to type EKG/ECG or EEG. LOL

By Annie2 on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 10:33 am:

I thought the same thing lol

I would reboil them. I've done this and they turned out fine. Now I put eggs in the water, bring to a rolling boil. Turn off the heat and cover for ten minutes. They come out great without a greenish tint to the yolk.

Thank you Ladies. :)

I don't think they will explore in the microwave if you peal them. But maybe. :)

By Cocoabutter on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - 02:35 pm:

It depends on the power level and the duration of time that they are in. I have an egg poacher that has burst open before because I keep forgetting what time to set the microwave. If you just give them a few seconds on 50% power they should not explode.

Anyone else make some hard boiled eggs after reading this? LOL That is all I thought about for the past couple of days, so I made some tonight!!
