What's for dinner?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2007: What's for dinner?
By Annie2 on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 01:53 pm:

I always like this thread LOL

I haven't cooked much lately with everything going on, my loss of appetite and it being summer with everyone coming in and out. Since the kids started school yesterday and they are home in the evenings I am making beef stew.

It is tremendously hot here and beef stew probably wouldn't sound like something I should make in the summer but they all love it.

I'll serve it with a garden salad and french bread to mop up the gravy. :)

By Kateg on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 01:58 pm:

We're going out for pizza tonight. We've got horses to tend to, so it's our lazy way out. :) Beef stew sounds good in spite of the temps. :)

By Tink on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 02:27 pm:

We're having taco soup, tortilla chips and a green salad tonight. I'll make dessert quesadillas (tortillas with chocolate chips in the middle, warmed on a hot griddle and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar) afterwards.

I love this thread too, Annie.

By Kernkate on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 02:43 pm:

Since its only 59 degrees here and its a rainy yucky day I am making a pot of homemade chicken soup...haven't had that since last winter.

By Tarable on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 02:46 pm:

spaghetti and meatballs
ceasar salad
and garlic bread...
by request of my oldest DD.

By Tunnia on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 03:06 pm:

pork tenderloin sandwiches
baked beans
pickle spears
salad

The pork is a new crockpot recipe I'm trying.

By Debbie on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 03:38 pm:

Chuncky chicken potato soup. It is hot here too, but my dks love this. I serve it with salad and french bread.

By Colette on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 03:40 pm:

Kid's are getting leftover lasagna or something easy and I am going to a friend's house tonight. Dh has a friend coming over to brew beer tonight so they will probably get pizza or grill something.

By Yjja123 on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 04:08 pm:

cajun oven fried chicken
snow peas
baked red potato
frozen grapes as dessert

By Vicki on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 04:51 pm:

Grilled ham, noodles and green beans from the garden! Not my garden, but my neighbor shared some of hers!!

By Enchens on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 06:07 pm:

Whatever we can find! We have finally returned to the house for some normalcy and it's taking a couple of days to get readjusted.

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 08:41 pm:

We had a ham and cheese roll with baked potato soup. I love this thread, too!

By Cat on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 10:25 pm:

We had Subway. Dh is out of town so we're doing our own thing. :)

By Nicki on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 10:29 pm:

This thread always makes me feel bad!:-) Only because I'm a lousy cook. My dh would absolutely love to come to some of your houses for dinner!

By Jelygu on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 10:50 pm:

We were at my dad's, so Chris ate what my dad ate, which happened to be grilled cheeses. Yay, I didn't have to cook.
I however, went and got hot wings. Those are my guilty pleasure, they are SO bad for you that I can't justify having them often!

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 10:58 pm:

We went to Culver's. I worked this afternoon, until 5pm, and Sarah had band practice at 7pm, so we didn't have a lot of time, for supper.

By Breann on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 - 12:23 am:

Burger King :( Yuck! LoL

By Kernkate on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 03:45 pm:

It is my birthday so hubby is cooking :)
Steak
Potatoes
Ceasar salad
Yeast rolls
Cannolis from favorite Italian deli

By Tunnia on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 03:59 pm:

Same here, Kathy--spaghetti with meat sauce and salad. Dks have tae kwon do and I have a parents meeting for orchestra (dd is starting violin) so I decided to make quick and easy tonight.:)

Have a very Happy Birthday, btw!

By Kaye on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 04:09 pm:

hmmm...i am indecided. I was going to make a pork loin, but it has to get in the oven in an hour to be ready and not sure if that is going to happen.

My older two are working on school projects (or not working) and they are in my "space" so until they get done I won't be fixin dinner. So if they aren't done by 4, then I will probably just heat up something frozen :)

By Debbie on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 04:32 pm:

We are having salmon patties, green beans, salad, and rolls.

Happy Birthday, Yvonne.

By Tarable on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 04:44 pm:

That is for my dh to decide today. I am going to go home from work and take a nap. Jordan has a party to go to tonight so I am just refusing to cook tonight. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Yvonne!

By Colette on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 05:21 pm:

jerk pork, rice and beans and grilled pineapple - for dh and I. Took the kids to an amusement park today so they are full from all the junk they ate, don't think they want dinner tonight.

By Tink on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:28 pm:

Chicken, broccoli and rice casserole with fresh baked beer bread and chocolate pudding for dessert.

Happy Birthday, Yvvone! Have you enjoyed your outdoor fireplace yet?

By Yjja123 on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 06:49 pm:

Thanks for the birthday greetings.
I have used the fireplace 3x already :)
Love it!

By Annie2 on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 07:35 pm:

Bowtie pasta with sauce, garlic bread and garden salad.

Happy Birthday, Yvonne!

By Crystal915 on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 08:09 pm:

We had chicken sauteed in garlic and olive oil, over salad with mozzerella. YUM!

By Cocoabutter on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 10:34 pm:

I am making a ham dinner this weekend. I haven't done one since Christmas, but it's just me, dh, and ds, and maybe MIL. So it shouldn't be that bug a deal. But I haven't been cooking much this summer either.

By Reds9298 on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 10:52 pm:

Spaghetti and meat sauce with garlic bread...yummy!! No salad tonight though.

By Bellajoe on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 08:00 am:

Going out to dinner with some friends tonight.
Tomorrow will probably pesto chicken pasta with rolls, and a salad
