Is It Possible to Paint a Picture Frame??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2007: Is It Possible to Paint a Picture Frame??
By Kate on Saturday, August 4, 2007 - 07:59 pm:

I bought large already framed pictures at Penneys. I really love them, but the frames are too dark for me...and they are more silver than gold (there are lines of gold in them here and there). I'd like to paint the frames gold somehow. I think it should be rubbed on somehow, to go with the rubbed on look they already have. There is also a lot of texture in the frames. Is this possible? What type of paint and where would I buy it? How would I apply it? And can I manage it with it already framed?? Do you think any mess I make would wipe right off the glass?

Thanks!

Check this out. It may not be what your looking for, but it is kind of neat.

I've painted picture frames before, just use a good primer. I've used acrylic paints, and spray paint to create matching sets of picture frames, on wood and plastic frames.

I just painted a picture frame in my daughters room. I actually spray painted it and it turned out great!
