We have a 13 week old boston terrior puppy that dh got me for Mothers day. He started acting a little funny this afternoon. He would whine and straighten his chest out like he was struggling to breath. so I call the vet(mind you everything here is closed on weekends small town) and I was shocked to find someone in. I tell him what louie is doing he says give him half a baby asprin and watch him if nothing changes in an hour call him back. Well Louie started getting worse call the vet back 10 min later and he says bring him in that he would meet me at the office. He see's louie and checks temp he is running a high fever and he moves louie around and listens to him and says he has phemonia ( I didn't realize dogs can get this) so poor Louie has phemonia the vet sends him home with anitbiotics and something to rub in his ears to keep the fever down. and says to treat him like a 1 year old with the flu because its pretty much the same. I get him home make a bed for him next to me and he looks alot better. I feed him some beef broth and he lapped it up. It scared me and all I wanted to do was cry because I though it was going to be something real bad and we might loose him. We have 3 dogs and if anything happened to any of them we would be devistated they are like our kids. I have a question though I didn't ask the vet if a a fever in a dog is like a fever in a kids what is high for a dog. Thanks for listening

Pneumonia is a respiratory illness, so yes, animals can get it too. Hope Louie gets better soon!!!! Poor pup.

I think dogs run higher than humans, normally, about 101 degrees F/38.3 degrees C.
