This is the May book, for my book discussion group. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, once they were finally going down the river. (The first part is a little slow.)

Last night, despite a work meeting/inservice that I had to go to, and then having to eat supper, I spent the WHOLE evening reading! Once I realized I was close to the end, I just kept reading, until 1am.

Then I get a call from a co-worker this morning, that she has a bad headache and can I come work for her! ARgh! Oh well, it was only 2-1/2 hours, so I did it, but my plan was to take the kids to school and go back to bed. I don't usually turn down an opportunity to make some money, though.

Anyway, I loved all the details, about the rainforest animals, plants and Indians, that was included in the story. Some of the relationships between plants and animals, I already knew!

Then, I was talking about it at work this morning, and one of the doctors read a book called, My Last Chance to Be A Boy also about Roosevelt's Amazon trip. So, I want to read that one, too!

It is great. I am going to pass it on to my dad when I finish. I think he will enjoy it too. Did you read the other one?

I requested it from the library. I have to get there to pick it up. I barely have time after school. I have two different meetings. When I scheduled one meeting, I didn't realize that the other meeting was coming up.

Too funny...
I was watching "House" the other night. It had a case were a guy had gone fishing and suddenly had a swollen testicle. I started yelling at the TV. It is that fish, the fish I read about in River of Doubt. The Candiru fish! It ended up being that exactly. What a funny thing to remember from a book. :)

LOL! I'm now reading, My Last Chance To Be a Boy, by Joseph Ornig. It has some details that weren't in the River of Doubt book. I'm about page 130 out of 256, and they just got to the river. They have all realized this won't be a trip down the Mississippi!
