The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter

Moms View Message Board: Books, Movies and TV Shows: The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter
By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, December 6, 2008 - 06:58 am:

These are thoroughly delightful mild mysteries written by Susan Wittig Albert. The main character and detective (of sorts) is Beatrix Potter, the author of the Peter Rabbit stories. Many of the animals featured in Potter's books have roles, and it is through their conversation with each other that we learn many of the details of the events of the mystery (which is sometimes but not always a murder). And many of the details of Beatrix Potter's life, and the lives of unmarried daughters of the well-off in Victorian times, and small village life in those times.

I whole-heartedly recommend these light, easy-reading, well written stories - there are five now. Little blood, very little violence, interesting to follow the relationships and thinking of the people and the animals.
