I just finished this. It is extremely powerful. A story of immigration of desperation and inspiration.
It left me shaking my head in disbelief at some parts, shaking with laughter at others and in the end just shaking with emotion. It was ugly and beautiful, painful and joyous.
In a nutshell it is the novelized biography of a man from Sudan who at 7 loses his home and his family during civil war and walks hundreds of miles with other boys to find safety and some kind of life. Eventually, he comes to the United States.
It really was a wonderful book.

I am reading his book: A heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. It too is very powerful. The story of a young man who loses both parents within a short period of time to cancer and he takes over custoday and responsibility of his 14 year younger brother. I'm looking forward to reading this one too!
