In a post under religion you said you didn't consider Baptist to be protestant. Just curious, why not and what catagory you think it fits under.

Well, I consider only those denominations that directly broke away from the Catholic church during the Reformation to be Protestant. This includes (I think!) Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist....maybe Presbyterian and Weslyan? TBH I'm not well-versed on what all denominations came out of the Reformation, but I do know that ones like Baptist, Assembly of God, etc. did not, and so I do not consider them Protestant.

Just remember it's not about denomination, it is the belief in God, that he sent his son who died on a cross, who ascended to Heaven where he intercedes on our behalfs. If you believe and confess you are a sinner, then you are a part of God's church

thanks for answering. TBH I am Baptist and had never really thought about what we were called. I just assumed we weren't catholic, therefore we were protestant. Hmmm...LOL. Barbie you are right it isn't about denomination, but about Christ.
