So where are the prisoners going from Guatonamo Bay?

Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): So where are the prisoners going from Guatonamo Bay?
By Feona on Sunday, January 25, 2009 - 07:46 am:

I heard the new president will release them.

I heard their own countries don't want them and washington won't release them to their countries if they suspect they will be mistreated? Who will take the suspected terrorist and bad guys?

So they are staying at the White House?

By Feona on Sunday, January 25, 2009 - 07:47 am:

They must be staying like the world war two prisoners.

By John on Sunday, January 25, 2009 - 11:08 am:

So far, 18 of the released prisoners have gone back to terrorist acts...

Not a good sign for the future

would have been nice if he had a plan as to where they were going to go before making this announcement.

CNN is saying something similar John.

I'm not as worried about the ones that are leaving Guantánamo Bay, Cuba as I am about the 10's of thousands of kids and teens training in these camps around the world in the name of Jihad using the stories these men tell to fuel their hatred and violence. Also our own men and women who are captured will now be subjected to unspeakable tortures because of our own folly.

I agree with Colette. It seems very strange to me to announce closing something with no plan as to how you are going to get to that point. Sounds like just a way to check off a campaign promise to me!
