Lip Syncing in Olympics

Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): Lip Syncing in Olympics

How in the world could you possibly do this to a 7 year old little girl? It is horrible

I don't know how to post a link but here is the story...

I personally think that both girls are cute!

I heard about this and a few other things. I thought this was a horrible story! but then China is not known for being good to its people.

I'm not particularly surprised at the reason given by the Chinese official. I also don't think it is much to fuss over. After all, Pavarotti was lip synced at the Olympics where he sang (towards the end of the article). There are a lot more things to be upset with China about - like the way they are blocking journalists access to web sites while the journalists are in China, that they refused a visa to a former Olympic gold medalist because he is a leader of a group supporting Tibetan freedom, that they have a security officer every 30 feet around Tianamen square, that they destroyed villages very shortly before the opening day and removed the residents so that those places could be prettied up for the Olympics, that they have silenced the parents of children killed in collapsing schools in the earthquake - I could go on for a long, long, long list. This lip syncing thing is fairly trivial - though certainly typical of the Chinese government's attitude towards appearances and truth.

Fox News Lip Synching

I really think both girls are cute! Sheesh. I'd have thought nothing of it, if I'd seen the girl with the voice, on my tv. I didn't see the part where any girl was singing, though, since that was probably when I was working.

I read an article today, that some Chinese residents, think the government spent too much money on the Olympics

Another article about Lip Synching

I read it on cnn and I think both girls are cute too! I sure hope the one who DID sing gets some recognition and the girl who DIDN'T sing doesn't suffer to much over this. After all she is a child doing what adults told her to do.

I have to say it is very different for an artist of Pavarotti's caliber to lip sync his OWN voice because the air was just too cold for him to really sing - than for the Beijing Olympic committee to pull a Milli Vanilli (80's pop group who did not sing any of their own stuff). It's just one more instance of a country that's great at covering things up.
What I find horrible is the Chinese government's non reaction to the stabbing of two Americans.
