What happened?

Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): What happened?
By Emily7 on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 10:37 am:

What was so wrong with me asking about a post I was interested in? Why were these posts deleted?

By Bobbie~moderatr on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 11:07 am:

There are a set of rules that govern the board. These rules where broken in the original thread. The thread was removed. There is another rule that states we do not have to reply to questions about why we remove a thread. That said....... IF you need to discuss this further I suggest you contact one of the owners off the list. When you applied to be a member you were to read the rules and in applying for membership you said you agreed to the rules (of which no flaming was one of those rules to which you type I Agree) which clearly state that post will be removed for flaming and no explanation will be given. Which is why the second thread was removed.

But to settle this, since you are having an issue, I will explain, NO the whole thread was not flaming but there was more than one case of it and in this instance it is easier for the readers to remove the whole thread. You can not just remove half a story. As the saying goes a couple of bad apples can ruin a whole bunch. The second post was removed because it serves no purpose because we do not have to debate you on our rights as moderators to act on a thread as we see fit for the betterment of the group. And because of the rules we have set up this board runs like it does. IF you think your post were deleted because of your opinion you are sorely mistaken. It just so happens that it was on a thread with ones that were.

Do you have a right to debate on this board. YES but that doesn't mean you have a right to personally attack and make snide remarks to a fellow member (which I know you didn't do but it did happen on that thread from several people) this board is governed by the same rules as the other boards and those rules are informed.

Thank you Bobbie for the clarification on why this post was removed.

You are welcome and I hope you understand why and that in this instance the whole thread will be removed every time. And I can tell you that I, as have all the other moderators, gotten personally involved in a thread, got caught up in emotion and had our post removed. This has nothing to do with who you are only what you say, this is about a set of rules that have to be inforced to keep things running smoothly. We do not single out people but the point is when your thread is removed you feel personally attacked but trust me that isn't always the case. Like I said you can't delete half the story and have the other readers be able to understand. So if you are caught in the middle of something ugly then your post is removed, nothing personal. And you always have the right to repost it under a new sub topic if you feel it is worth the debate.
