Say a quick prayer for me please

Moms View Message Board: Prayer Requests: Say a quick prayer for me please
By Kaye on Thursday, February 8, 2007 - 06:12 am:

My grandmother passed away yesterday morning. Please keep my family in your prayers. We are driving 5 hours today for her funeral tomorrow. Mamaw was diagnosed with bone cancer in Sept. She really did okay until not too long ago, when she got bad she went pretty quickly. Her husband only died 3 years ago (also of bone cancer). Her passing makes me the matriarch of my family, my mom, her daughter died almost 10 years ago. I have one aunt, she bounces between being very sad and relief that this ordeal is over. The past month has just been horrific. Anyway, if you don't mind, I would just appreciate the prayers for comfort and safe travel.

Comfort, certainly, Kaye, and safe travel. It is scary that you are now the matriarch of your family - what a load and what a worry, on top of your losses. Prayers, indeed.

We are home. Teh funeral was very lovely, the burial was really a sense of her going home. It has been a crazy several months. There is quite a bit of paperwork to handle and some other matters, so a couple of more months and this chapter will be closed. It is sad, but also it has gone on long enough there is relief in the end so I can actually mourn. I come from a different perspective than most, I have lost two moms from cancer, one at 52, one at 57, so to lose an 82 year old grandmother is sad, but not tragic. I will miss her, but she left me with a lot of very fond memories, recipes and ways to live my life.

However when this is all said and done, I think my family and I are going to take a vacation. I will get just a little bit of money, and I think a road trip is in order!

{{{HUGS}}} You will think of her, when you make her recipes. Oatmeal cookies always make me think of my grandma and I think I just figured out her magic ingredients. My oatmeal cookies were good, but not quite like hers. We made a different oatmeal cookie recipe recently and used old-fashioned oats instead of the quick-cooking oats. I have a feeling that is the missing ingredient!

Enjoy your road trip! I love road trips!
