I am organizing our personal papers. It's one of those jobs that I've been meaning to do, but somehow always managed to put off. Well, I needed a document and couldn't find it where I thought I had put it, so I'm biting the bullet and sorting and organizing. I'm doing pretty good so far (yeah! LOL), but am unsure what to keep, and for how long, and what I can shred. Is there a site that has that info? I thought one had been posted a while back, but can't remember. Any help is appreciated!

For starters:
Keep anything related to the purchase of your house and any home improvements - almost forever. Same for sale of the house you moved out of.
Keep bank records 7 years. Keep tax records 7-8 years. Keep documentation regarding a major purchase at least until the warranty expires.
