FlyLady

Moms View Message Board: Get Organized: FlyLady
By Bubbels on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 10:24 am:

I just rejoined FlyLady, the queen of organization, again. Hope I can stick with it for a while. Anyone else a member?

By Bubbels on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 10:25 am:

Anyone did the 27 Fling Boogie yet? I just did! It was easy to find 27 things to throw away. The 27 things to give away was a little harder. I was tempted to find it all in my DK's room (lol), but felt that would be defeating the purpose, so I spread it out around the house. But I was able to take one step towards decluttering and got rid of 54 things in my house today!

By Bubbels on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 11:24 am:

Did the "Stay in Touch" reminder. Wrote a letter to Mike in Iraq. :)

By Bubbels on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 11:25 am:

Can't do the "organizing tax receipts" reminder. It's already too far gone. I'll have to tackle that problem one day. :(

By Semperspencer on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 01:33 pm:

Mom, Crystal and I do FlyLady for the most part. I LOVE the 27 Fling Boogie...

By Bubbels on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 03:10 pm:

Well, then I'm in good company. :) The 27 Fling Boogie is a trick I use with Garrett & Emily (although it's only a 10 Fling Boogie for them) to get them to clean their rooms. Amazing I never thought about doing it myself until now.

By Bubbels on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 03:46 pm:

Oh, and I did scrub my kitchen sink till it shined this morning. I have one of those stupid white porcelin sinks that makes a black scratch mark every time you put a pot or utensil in it. It also picks up the color of anything you put in it, like Kool-Aid or red sauce. I usually clean it once a week, but now, as FlyLady recommended, I will keep it sparkling every day! At first I couldn't understand why that should be important, but it really does give me a good feeling when I walk in the kitchen, and my sink is shiny clean. Also, bonus: You have to get the freakin dishes out of the sink to clean it! ;-)

I never had too much clutter, with the exception of DH's gear, which I can't throw out. (though I wish I could!!!) So the 27 fling boogie wasn't a big part for me. I make my bed and get dressed everyday now, as soon as I give the kids their morning bottles. I also do dishes right away most of the time. My main thing is I made a list of one or 2 big chores to do each weekday. Like today is my floors, all floors get swept and mopped, and every other week I do the baseboards too. I delete almost all her emails now, except the zone work, but even a lot of that doesn't need to be done, because I've kept up with it. She just makes me more aware of things I overlook, and motivates me (with guilt in a way!!! LOL I'm a very guilt-ridden person!) to keep at it, rather than say "screw this". But I'm much more lax than she is, weekends are lazier, and I cut myself slack when I feel I need it. The biggest peeve I have with her is "Go to bed, you need your rest!!!" I don't let anyone tell me to go to bed!!! She wants you to get up 15 min before everyone in the house, and I don't. I get up when the kids do. Good luck, Pam!!! I hope you stick with it!!!!

By Melanie on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 06:05 pm:

LOL, Pam, I decided to give it a go, too! :) I did the 27 fling boogie twice today. Once in my "catch all" room otherwise known as my guest room and once around the house. The guest room was easy to find 27 things to get rid of! LOL. And I cleaned my main "hot spot" today-my kitchen counter. I tell you, when that is clean, the whole house looks clean! The taxes are organized so I was able to skip that today and I put off the keep in touch one. I've been too busy with other things today. But I will get to it! :)

Good luck! Let's stick with it!

Just to let you guys know, FlyLady has it's own group message board on Yahoo, divided by locations in the country. It is a good way to get support and meet other flying friends locally.

By Melanie on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 - 11:24 am:

Thanks, Amy! I checked it out and found a group within an hour of me! How fun!

Okay, I have to say that I am really enjoying this. I could have a pop in visitor at any time, and my house is ready! :) I still have my trouble spots-mostly closets-but at least now I feel like I can actually take the time to tackle them! I even managed to get my car cleaned out today!

By Melanie on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 - 06:00 pm:

Okay, now this is just scarey. I even did the "Keep in touch" assignment today! LOL. How is it that I am getting so much more done in a shorter amount of time???

Now it's time to go play Monopoly....

By Palmbchprincess on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 - 12:48 am:

Melanie... where do you play monopoly? Did you mean the board game at home, or online? I ask because I play at Playsite.com, and am a tournament director. :)

By Melanie on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 - 09:42 am:

LOL, I meant with my 5 and 7 year olds! (And they beat me every time!) :)

By Palmbchprincess on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 - 01:34 pm:

LOL... my DH and I play when he's home. We pretty much take turns killing each other, but I love it. But like I said, I play with a great bunch of ppl online now, too. :)

By Conni on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 - 03:19 pm:

OK, that's it, you all have motivated me to go REJOIN Flylady.... :) I quit for several months because I go to college now, teach at a preschool on wed, have lots of homework, have 3 kids, I was working on weekends at Kohl's and on and on.... Anyway, I quit Kohl's because my dh threw a huge fit and told me I needed to quit doing so much. ( bascially he was tired of watching the kids. LOL) Needless to say my house is now in utter CHAOS again!!! I miss how it looked when I was doing the flylady system.

Thanks for the 'push'!

By Melanie on Monday, April 21, 2003 - 11:20 am:

Hi Conni! I've been away for a few days and just saw your message. How's it going so far? I am loving it! We'll have to check in from time to time to keep each other motivated! :)

By My3girls on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 - 01:22 pm:

Hi! I'm Lisa and I just joined the message boards. I noticed that no one has posted here lately! I've been a Flybaby simce March 2003 and it has completely turned my home (and marriage) around. I can't say enough about it! I work full time at a local hospital, so I have to rework the system to suit my family. Anybody here still doing Flylady routines?

By Kay on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 - 08:47 pm:

Hi - Lisa....I'm a fairly recent FlyBaby, and I'm amazed at the results in our home! I don't go overboard with it, I do what I can with what time I have.

By Miki on Friday, January 9, 2004 - 05:06 pm:

I'm a flybaby too. I started about a year ago. I don't do my routines like I should, but my house has never been cleaner!!
