INVASION!!! LADY BUGS!! ASIAN LADY BEETES...WHATEVER!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive March 2006: INVASION!!! LADY BUGS!! ASIAN LADY BEETES...WHATEVER!!
By Kate on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 - 11:39 am:

These days whenever I pull up my second story bedroom shades on the west side of the house, I find about eight lady bugs PER WINDOW happily crawling away. Throughout the day I find them flitting about in every room of the house. It's DISGUSTING!! I have to take the Dirt Devil hand vac and VACUUM them with the hose as I can't get every one by hand!! And they emit this horrible smell when you kill them. It's sooooo frustrating!!! They are all over my enclosed porch, as well. I've heard they are attracted to white and I have a white house. They must be getting in thru the windows (which are closed and locked) but...then why aren't OTHER bugs all over my house?? Why aren't I overrun with bugs if it's so easy to get in thru my windows?? I can see lady bugs between the glass and screen, too, so technically they are 'outside' but then they must crawl thru to the house. I hate them SO much and I don't know how to get rid of them! Help!! I think they might be the Asian Lady Beetles because they are more orange than red. Either way they're gross and I want them GONE FROM MY HOME.

They are probably coming out of hibernation now that spring is here. We get tons every fall and now they are starting to wake up and I am finding them again. They are good for your gardens, if you have any, so just flick them outside.

I was too upset to know my directions. (actually, that's just an excuse....I am terrible with north/south/east/west no matter my disposition....) They are all over the EAST side of my house, not the west.

I can't just flick them outside...they are EVERYWHERE and I can't bear to touch them anyway. :(

Kate, we have these too. I have been finding them in my house lately. They are the only bugs inside the house. I don't know what the deal is with them. YUCK.

You can call an exterminator. Don't know if you hate them that bad, but I hate all bugs and we get our house treated every spring. We get no bees nests, no flies, no spiders, no creepy crawlies at all and it also is good against these stupid lady bugs!! If I see any of the above mentioned bugs (and more) I call them and they retreat for free! Some of the best money I spend is with them once a year!!

I'm expecting them to start soon, we moved here in May of last year and my neighbor said we just missed the ladybugs, when I was asking her about the June Bug invasion. LOL... seems like you can't win for losing!! If you decide to go with an exterminator, let me know how it works, because they exterminate on post, but not well. It might be worth it to me to hire one.

Oh, aren't they the worst?! We had such a mild winter, some of those critters stayed around all season. I had one in the sink and one in the bathtub this morning. The worst time is late summer for us, when they swarm through the cracks in our old house and we have dozens (or hundreds) on the ceilings and walls. Ugh!!!!
