I'm leaking on my shirts!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive March 2006: I'm leaking on my shirts!
By Eve on Friday, March 10, 2006 - 04:03 pm:

Can anyone recommend a super deluxe nursing pad? I have the washable ones from JCPenny and they work pretty well. I used them with DD, but I'm wondering if they have been washed so much they are not sa absorbant. I just went shopping for a couple of hours and I came home with a big wet spot. The weather is warming up and I don't know what I am going to do. Now, I can wear a sweater or my jacket and I'm good. I don't leak all the time, but I worry while in public, especially without my little man!

I'm thinking of giving the Lily Pads a try for sleeping and for times when I am away from the baby. They are supposed to put a little pressure, so that you don't leak. Has anyone tried them?

I think I used the same ones from JC Penney. I doubled them up when out in public. LOL!

I don't know if they still make them (it's been awhile since I had babies) but I used Playtex disposable shields. They were the best! I'd bought a bunch of washable ones, but the Playtex had adhesive that helped them stay in place, and they were shaped more naturally (less bulk and less conspicuous under shirts). I used to wear a light bra with pads to bed, too. Not too romantic, but you do what you gotta do... LOL

I used the JCPenney pads and the disposable pads from Playtex and leaked through them. I never did find anything that really helped. I hadn't heard of the Lily Pads. I tried to wear a "lightly" padded bra so that it would absorb some of the leakage and I could just wash it if I did leak more than the pads could handle. Good luck! I remember the embarrassment of those wet spots.

It seems like it's been so long since I used them, I had to look up the name! LOL

I tried many nursing pads, but preferred Curity disposable pads.

I used the Curity pads, too, or ones made by Johnson and Johnson. I found the disposable ones to be much more absorbent, and I NEEDED the absorbency, lol! (Plus, you can throw the soggy things away when you need to ;)

Ditto on the disposables. I was a massive milk-making machine and they worked the best for me.

I know this may sound silly but you can cut a thin maxi pad in half and use that as a nursing pad. I did this for my son when we were stationed in Okinawa and I couldn't find tradional nursing pads anywhere. They worked like a charm. :)

Ditto Annie! Worked wonders for me also.

I used disposable nursing pads, but I really don't remember which brand anymore.

I never thought of doubling them up Trina. I'll give that a try. Thanks, everyone. I'm going to give the ideas a try.:)

I used disposables as well, and doubled them up sometimes, if I knew I'd be away for a little while.

Another vote for disposables. I used cloth ones at home, and really prefered them. But out in public my letdown could just be so strong I needed something very absorbant. I also doubled up the disposables, plus carried a few pair with me :)
