Need jean help for ds

By Debbie on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 - 05:10 pm:

My ds is so skinny, I can't find jeans to fit him. He is only 50 lbs and 4'5". He is all leg too. The size 10 jeans fit him perfect in the length, put they fall off in the waist. I have even tried the adjustable waist kind, put we have to adjust them so much they bunch at the sides and are so baggy. Does anyone know of a brand that is cut slim and has a longer length? He has been wearing the Sonoma(I think it is the Kohl's brand) We have tried Levis and they don't fit etiher. Help!

Doesn't Levi's make a slim fit jean? Or Lee? I used to have to buy slim fit for both of my kids.

I buy Levi, Wrangler and Old Navy in size 10 slim for my DS. They fit him great and he sounds like your DS.

Karen, I should have said, it is the slim fit that are too big!!

Kathy, I will have to try Old Navy, we have one right by us.

Debbie, try Tommy Hilfiger (i will be shocked if these dont work for ya!), Polo, and Cinch (you have to get those at the western store so that may not be your thing! lol I get my boys Carhart jackets and cinch jeans and Justin work boots to wear out when we work and play on the farm.)

I have the same problem with my youngest DS. He is very tall and skinny, so we have the length and the waist issue. Target has some good adjustable jeans and we've also had luck with Old Navy's slim AND adjustable waist jeans.

I will definitely try Old Navy.

Conni, I don't know if I would want to spend the money for Tommy Hilfinger, unless I could get them on sale. Ds is VERY hard on his jeans. When he was wearing the Kohls brand, I would get them on sale for $11.99. I just realized he has a pair of Landsend pants in slim that fit, so I could try their jeans. I guess I could get them as a last resort. Ds just wears the knees on his jeans so fast that I hate to spend a lot for a pair. And, he is growing like a weed, this is the second time we've had to go up a pant size this school year!!

Debbie, I find that the name brand jeans hold up better than store brand jeans.

Try GAP, which is basically the same as Old Navy. If he's a cowboy kind of kid, try wranglers from a western store (not from k-mart or wal-mart). I've seen some VERY skinny guys in wranglers that fit like a glove.

JC Penneys sells slim fit jeans, my mom and sister always had the same problem.

Debbie, I know where you are coming from! We have found a couple of cute Tommy Hilfiger and Polo jeans before at TJ Maxx at a discounted price. I was just at Dillard's last weekend with Brad and they were having some good sales on all of the brands that they carry for boys... I rarely pay full price for any of those brands. I have also found those brands at the consignment stores. I did end up coughing up $32 for *one* pr of Brad's pants last weekend- but they fit him so well and he has looked so *awful* at church lately I just felt like I should do it. LOL I got a pr of Polo jeans for him for $11 and 2 pr of First Wave pants for $4.99 each... To be honest with you, the polo jeans arent the cutest jeans I've ever seen but they just happen to fit him great and they were on sale. :)

I really do have a problem with clearance sales. The Dillards sale has crossed my mind about 20x a day this week. I want to go back so bad but I know that I should stay away. It's a sickness.

My son is slim and the best jeans he's had are slim sized elastic waist jeans from the Gap. Even though Old Navy is owned by the same company they aren't as good in my opinion as far as fit.
