Ear piercing and swimming pools

My DD(9) got her ears pierced yesterday. Can I take the kids to the swimming pool today?

By Vicki on Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 01:15 pm:

I wouldn't think it would hurt at all. I don't recall them saying anything at all about swimming when dd got hers done. I would think if anything, it would help clean them! I would go and just use the cleaning solution they should have given you when you get home!! Have fun!!

I agree with Vicki.

I would think it would be fine.

Okay, thanks ladies. Off we go

I know this is probably too late, but please make sure you clean them REALLY well after swimming. They do caution against going to public pools after getting any piercings because of the risk of infection and that chlorine can be irratating to the new piercing. Any piercing is really an open wound. It probably won't hurt anything to swim, and I did it too after getting many of my piercings. I just want you to know the risks and how to avoid any problems. Check out this site. It's one of the best sites out there for info on piercings. Good luck to your dd and her new piercing! :)
