So I thought this might be fun and inspiring. I know that when I plan and shop for a week, we eat better and I spend MUCH less money. But I am not great at doing it and I am so tired of eating the same things....sooo if you plan a week ahead, do you mind posting what's for dinner for this week?

Um, if I did that, my menu would read 'leftovers' every other day! Don't you eat it again the next day for dinner?!?

By Pamt on Friday, March 3, 2006 - 02:12 pm:

No, I usually fix enough to feed the four of us or a little extra and then DH and I both take the leftovers to work for lunch the next day.

I make a menu before I shop every week or I would have to run back to the store daily for things I needed and forgot. I usually shop on Mondays and I print out my menu and post it on the refrigerator. I usually pick and choose from among the meals based on what sounds good that night rather than fix each menu item on it's assigned day. I did stick to Friday's menu though and the roast is smelling so good right now and I am getting ready to put the bread in the oven to bake.:) Anyway, here is this weeks menu:

Monday - open faced sandwiches, mashed potatoes, broccoli

Tuesday - bbq chicken, yellow rice, honey glazed carrots, salad

Wednesday - beef stroganoff, salad

Thursday - grilled pork chops, mac & cheese, peas

Friday - roast w/fingerling potatoes and baby carrots in the crockpot, bread

Saturday - hamburgers, oven fries

Sunday - rotisserie roasted garlic chicken (I have my own rotisserie), green beans, hot rolls

Pam, can I be you when I grow up???:)

I don't sit down and plan out menus but I have a mental idea when I make out my shopping list each week so that I don't have to run out for that last minute item. (It doesn't hurt that my dh is a grocery manager so I can call him up if I need something for the next day!) Then I have several options for my possible dinner and I just choose from those ideas for dinner that night. I do my shopping early Saturday morning so my plan for the next week is:

Grilled chicken, rice, broccoli
Hamburgers, baked beans, green salad
BBQ Chicken Sandwiches (in the crockpot) with fruit and green salad
Chicken Enchiladas, corn
Sweet Citrus Pork Chops, macaroni and cheese, peas
Beef and barley stew, whole wheat rolls

Dh's nights off change and he LOVES fast food so one night will be from Jack in the Box or McDonalds.

I use the Saving Dinner Menu Mailer, which all of you "flybabies" will recognize! I love it, and it works perfectly for us. I only cook four nights a week, so I just choose the four that sound the best. This week we had:

-Tilapia in Mushroom cream sauce/rice pilaf/green beans/mashed sweet potatoes
-Philly Cheese Steaks/spinach salad

-Turkey Parmesan over spaghetti/salad

_Crock Pot Moroccan Chicken/rice/broccoli
