Ikea Kitchen???

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive March 2006: Ikea Kitchen???

I just recently started looking into cabinet options and came upon some good reviews about Ikea and their kitchens. I'm skeptical because I absolutely hate the couch I bought from them, and it wasn't cheap! LOL

If anyone has an IKea kitchen or knows of someone who does....would ya...could ya please give me some insight?

:)

RUN---ok just being a bit extreme but....a relative installed it in their cottage and hates it. It chipped and is not holding up well. I am not a fan of anything Ikea though. It seems like the products are all laminates. I miss the days where everything was built from solid wood.

When I think of Ikea, i think cheap, short term furniture. Not really something I would put in a kitchen. I have seen their kitchen stuff and looks nice enough, but still seems "ikeaish". Anythink you have to build yourself (short of real wood) probably isn't a great investment. Kitchen remodels are one of the few household investments that you can get your money back with!

I don't know anyone who has used Ikea for kitchens but I know several people who used Ikea for kids' bedrooms and home offices and they love it.

I agree with everyone else... I would do something else...

Stori-I love my cabinets. Email me and I'll fill you in. We were going to go with more expensive ones, but the sales woman talked us out of it. They are made in the same factory as the Kraftmaid, but at half the cost. I don't know anyone with an Ikea kitchen--they look cool, but I don't know how they would hold up. There stuff is not the best quality,IMHO. :)
