Horrible Horrible News

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive February 2006: Horrible Horrible News
By Bellajoe on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 - 12:30 pm:

I am shaking. My dh came home from work and told me that a man that worked at his company shot his wife, his 6 yr old dd and himself last night. The wife and child are dead, and he is barely hanging in there.
I have met them all and they all seemed like a sweet happy family. My kids played with the little girl at a picnic last year. The man seemed gentle and quiet. My poor dh is beside himself, he's so upset. I know he is the most upset about the little girl though, no child should have to go through that and die, especially in that way.

I am just so numb and in disbelief right now.

What the hell is happening! I am so sorry that you are personally involved in this, I just cannot imagine what makes a person that pathological. Tell you dh, to hang in there, what kind of work does he do? Do they have access to grief workers?

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 - 01:07 pm:

I'm sure they will get some kind of grief counseling. They are in construction. My dh works in the office. They guy who did this was the mechanic, he worked on all the bull dozers and everything like that.

Dh said that the man must have been very mentally ill.
i told him that i hope the guy lives so he can rot in prison...harsh, but that's how i feel.

That is heartbreaking. Something very similar happened when my X worked at a local hospital, the Asst. Administrator or something shot his wife and stepkids/kids and himself. Some of the kids survived are were taken by a family member. My X said something a week or so before it happened, that he thought the guy was losing it, and when it happened, he was so distraught. I can imagine that's how your DH feels right now.

Many prayers for that family. I hope your DH can get some grief counseling if he needs it.

It's been all over the news and it's on the front page of the news paper today. The police, and everyone else can not figure it out. They were never called to the house before. Family says that they did not have family problems or marital problems. Neighbors say that the little girl was happy and they saw her playing outside with friends and stuf like that.

He did leave a note at work. It said that he loved his wife, his daughter and his family. But it didn't say much more. There must have been something more going on.

My dh said that there will be grief counselors at work. He told me that he is not sad at all about the coworker, he's just sad about the little girl. She was the same age as our little girl. :( I just don't understand.
