Another front loader question...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive February 2006: Another front loader question...

We bought the whirlpool duet set in pewter with the built in heating element, blah blah blah. Ok now my question is do I HAVE to use the special soap the lady was talking about or will it really over suds my laundry room???? Can't I just use the regular tide or do I have to use the soaps that say HE on them?

I use the HE detergent. I've heard with some washers it will void the warrenty if you don't. I don't think mine's that way, but I have the LG brand. Buy it at the commissary. It's a lot less expensive there.

YES, it is highly recommended to use HE detergent. It's specially formulated for front loaders. Regular detergent is too sudsy and could cause problems. I've read it's OK in a pinch to use half the amount of regular detergent but not to do so on a regular basis.

Ok not a problem but I was just making sure that she was telling me correctly. I just wanted to make sure she wasn't being like the sales person that told my grandma she could only use hoover carpert solution in her new hoover carpet cleaner or it would break. I have the same carpet cleaner and I don't always use that brand and I have never had a problem. The only brands I have seen are Tide and Cheer, do they make others?

I think that tide makes a HE detergent :)

Gain and Whisk also make HE detergent. I bought Gain once because it was cheap, but I can't stand the strong smell of it. LOL!

I get Tide because that's the only HE I've seen at the commissary.
