If I'm really stressed...or PMSing - I bake cookies or clean like a fanatic - or both!!!

What do you do?

By Boxzgrl on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 05:47 pm:

Clean, take a walk or read.

By Trina~moderator on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 05:58 pm:

Take a long soak in the tub or cuddle with DH. He gives awesome back rubs!

By Debbie on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 06:43 pm:

Walk on my treadmill, eat sweets (unfortunately), go to bed early, or clean like a mad woman!

By Shellyg on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 06:44 pm:

When I'm sad, I go to the shelter and rescue a dog. When I'm stressed I take a jog on the beach, then come home and have a glass of wine...in the tub!

By Tink on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 07:42 pm:

Read blogs, books or magazines, crawl into bed, take a bath, cuddle with DH

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 08:01 pm:

Read, surf the net, take the dog for a walk, and maybe bake bread.

By Reds9298 on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 08:29 pm:

Snuggle with DH, bake, or clean!

By Conni on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 08:35 pm:

It depends on how stressed I am. LOL Sometimes a good cry does wonders, a warm bath, a glass of wine, getting outside with my kids and playing ball can do wonders, play with the dogs.

If I am mad I turn into a cleaning machine.

No matter what I do I ALWAYS have chocolate handy and I always call my sister. :)

By Mrsheidi on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 09:36 pm:

Call my friends...they always have a way to chill me out. :)

By Pamt on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 09:38 pm:

Eat, read, quilt, tell people off in my head, gripe to my DH, take a bubble bath, get a massage

By Heaventree on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 11:00 am:

I wish I felt like cleaning when I'm stressed out, I wouldn't need a cleaning lady! :)

I take a really hot bath in an almost dark bathroom. I dim the lights really low or light a candle, or I take a really long hot shower. Then I put on warm comfy socks and flannel jammies and hop into bed, pull up the duvet and cuddle with the kitty.

Scotch - or chocolate - and sometimes both (I know - yuck from the gourmets, but I'm not a gourmet).

By Missbookworm on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 12:34 pm:

I clean :) or bake or paint pictures, I also take hot baths with a candle and a glass of wine then jump into bed put on my sleep inducement cd and try to shut my brain off by focusing on the sounds, that's when my children are home if they're not I take long long walks down at the beach (3 hours walking is my record so far). I'll curl up and watch movies, lay in the dark with candles lit and listen to relaxing music. If my boyfriend is here I'll curl up in his arms and cry while he rubs my back....that usually leads to ... which is what I find is good for stress relief :) even when he's the "cause" of my stress! LOL

Usually talking to a friend of the phone helps so much with stress, and of course Chocolate(thats a given):)

By Heaventree on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 01:38 pm:

Ginny, Scotch and chocolate sound wonderful together, providing it's dark chocolate. Warm, smooth scotch with sharp almost bitter chocolate sounds very gourmet, just add a fireplace and a honey to snuggle up to ... wow you've inspired me! I'll have to go buy some scotch. :)

Remember those chocolates that people used to give during Christmas with the booze in the middle?

By Janet on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 03:50 pm:

Scream into my pillow!
After that, I like to veg out on the couch, wrapped up in a quilt (in winter, of course) and watch an old movie, or a chick flick. My dh usually knows better than to try any contact...when I'm stressed, I don't want to be touched! Just leave me alone!
(Of course, a nice dinner out--with wine--will also work wonders) :)

Cori, is there any chocolate other than dark chocolate that is worth eating? I am addicted to Dove Dark Chocolate squares. But one of my bosses was at Hershey, PA last weekend and says his son tried a new "very dark chocolate" they are coming out and said it was super. Can't wait.

By Heaventree on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 06:34 pm:

Actually Ginny I'll take any kind of chocolate except white (which isn't really chocolate anyway). What about chocolate truffles and scotch. Mmmmm. :) I wonder about the Hershey chocolate, I'm not a big fan of Hershey (too sweet) but I'll try when and if it comes out here.

By Nicki on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 07:00 pm:

Clean, and chocolate here, too, and anything salty if we have it in the house.

Catherin, may I ask what type of painting you do? I am just learning to do wall murals...that is a good stress reliever for me, too. I have a lot to learn, but I enjoy trying. Do you ever post any of your paintings?

By Missbookworm on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 07:42 pm:

I mostly do abstracts...I always say I paint feelings. I'm just starting to get back into it again now that I'm seperated, before I didn't have the time to pursue my own interests. I haven't ever really taken any classes I just enjoy it. I haven't ever posted any of my paintings. I've only managed one in the last little while I could try to take a picture of it with my other half's camera if I can get him to bring it over. I tried with my webcam once and it was so hard to see it :(

I'd love to do murals! Heck I like painting on anything. I'm really into impressionism I love the style of it. This is my favorite mural painter ever. http://www.diegorivera.com/index.php
I'm really bad at remember how to make links clickable. I took one art class years ago and did a slide presentation on him and his work. I also loved the work that frida kahlo did. They're mexican and I found the work brilliant.

I could talk about artists I love for ages.

Chagall is another of my favorites and of course van gogh and monet. I'm not sure if my email address is in my profile but if you'd like to email me feel free :) butterfly 774 at gmail . com

Write emails that never get sent. Lie quietly and deep breathe and think of something calming. Listen to music. Talk to a friend. Do laundry - YES, laundry is like therapy for me - ROFL. Listen to my sound machine - usually the rain sound or the waves sound. Walk on the treadmill.
