Let's beat those winter blues!

These cold, short days tend to get me down. I hate the winter blues! I beat them by conciously keeping myself busy, getting outside as often as possible and exercising. Just getting on my treadmill and walking helps a great deal. It also helps to surf the net looking at tropical places. :)

These rentals look Heavenly, don't they?!

How do YOU beat the winter blues?

By Annie2 on Saturday, February 4, 2006 - 09:16 pm:

I moved from MA to FL.

If you don't like the cold weather; then move south! :)

I start planning our vacation to Myrtle Beach right after Christmas!!! Last year was our first, and I had as much fun planning it almost as it was going!

We're planning our Mediterranean cruise for April. I'm still walking 3 miles at least twice a week, bowling, attending classes at the university, facilitating our support group, meeting friends for lunch, keeping this big barn clean and taking my Prozac. I don't allow myself much time to feel sad.

The last few yrs we have had a ski trip planned in Feb. That keeps me busy because I have to work out everyday before we go, shop for things needed for trip, make arrangements for pets, etc... So that usually keeps me busy and excited. Something to focus on besides the blah days. A few weeks after we get back we then have Spring break.

We went to Disney in Nov and it was quite costly, so we can't really afford to go skiing! It's all I have thought about this entire month! lol I *wish* we were going. :)

However, this winter has been so mild, I cant really complain about dreary days. It has been mostly sunny and fairly warm! :)

Oh, I also look forward to the Dillards 75% off shoe sale. LOL Doesnt take much to get me excited.

I LOVE that picture!

I just wait for spring to happen! The days are already longer! When I leave the clinic at 5pm, it's not completely dark anymore!

No trips to tropical places, in my future. We are lucky to be able to take the summer vacation!

It is such a funny concept to me. Our weather here in the winter is so much better than summer. Our high was almost 80 on Friday and yesterday was really one of those days I should of headed to the beach. Texas is cheap to visit, that is how you need to beat the blues.

I am NOT complaining this year! It's February and we made it through January with hardly any days below 0 F. Most of our snow is gone and I am thrilled! Really hoping that we get a spring this year instead of going from tons of snow to hazy, hot and humid weather.

Winter is never my favorite time of year. Although living in Va Beach, is much better then living in Chicago. Talk about depression winter days. I lived in the Chicago area for 29 yrs, and I dreaded winter.
Although Va Beach, its not exactly warm here in the winter, its not bad like Chicago. Ideally I would love to move to Florida in the future. I have always wanted too.
Planning vacations in January(for later on in the year)always helps me get out of the funk. Also staying busy helps A LOT!!
Now,Im involved with volunteering with the rescue group, that keeps me busy and focused.
We are still planning our cruise for August. Looking for airfare, looking on the cruisecritic message boards help me forget we are still in the winter months.
I always tell people Im a summer girl at heart. I much prefer heat to the cold.

Here too, Kaye! Summertime in south Louisiana means 95 degree temps and 85% humidity. *Winter time* means 65-75 degree temps and 40% humidity. I'll take our *winters* any day! LOL

I am beating the winter blues by wearing flip flops. It's been hot here, but finally! I might get to wear the new Christmas sweaters this week!

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, February 5, 2006 - 11:04 am:

I don't mind my winters and we are having a mild one this year, although today is rather bitter (and it's in the 20's, so really not that cold!)

I wouldn't want a southern summer! That would just be too hot! I'll stay in WI! (Also, no hurricanes, here!)
