Another Computer Question

I received a CD today at a workshop and the presenter said we are welcome to copy, alter, etc the material on the desk to suit our individual school's needs. So I am trying to open a file. It says it is a PUB file and opens with explorer. I have explorer but I can't get it to open. Why??

From what I found out a .pub file may just be a text file and can be opened with any text editor. Your Wordpad program under 'accessories' could probably do that.

Other sites however said that .pub was a Microsoft Publisher file so if you have Microsoft Publisher, try that.

Last resort might be to download Open Office, http://www.openoffice.org/ , and see if one of the applications in it will open the file. It's a freeware replacement for Microsoft Office and will read many Microsoft file extensions.

Then you call up the presenter and rag him out for putting files on the CD that not everybody can open. :)

Nope, Wordpad isn't going to work. My Christmas letter was a pub file and word pad turned it into gibberish.

Try Open Office, but I think you're going to need Publisher to open it up, unfortunately. IE didn't work, either.
